First off, a disclaimer: I am not anti-mask, nor am I anti-vax. For the last two years, I have always maintained social distance, kept my hands clean, received the vaccination & subsequent boosters and have masked up wherever required without a single issue.
Yesterday on my lunch break, I was excited to go get a sub from my favorite Subway in the area. I pulled up and began looking around my car for a mask, quickly realizing that I had left it at my office. Usually, I have several floating around but had cleaned out my car the day before. No big deal, right? EVERY business I've frequented in the last year always has a spare mask or exercises a bit of tolerance. I opened the front door, consciously making a point to only barely step inside far enough to see if there were some courtesy masks near the entry. Not seeing any, I politely caught the attention of the employee running the register and asked, "Excuse me, do you have a mask?" The employee shook her head and started helping a customer checkout. I quickly read the room, noting that there were only two customers in the store, with one of the customers wearing a mask on his chin, not covering his nose or mouth.
Since the employee was busy and seeing that one of two customers seemed pretty casual about masking up, I made a wide berth around the two customers and moved to where you order, mindfully keeping my distance (7') away from the counter where I could engage the other two employees. I said to one of the other employees, "Excuse me, the girl up front said she didn't have any masks. Do you have one that i can use, please?" Her response was very hostile, "We have masks. We're just not going to give you one." I was completely floored by this response, and how overtly aggressive she was. I said, "So, I can't get any food?" She replied, "If you don't have a mask, you need to leave." I said, "You know they're lifting the mask mandate at the beginning of March, right?" To which she replied, "UH, Actually, it's March 31st!" I politely gave up, apologized, and left the building feeling very embarrassed. Not once was my demeaner or tone anything but friendly and polite.
I've been coming to this store at least twice a week for the last 3.5 years, even using this location to cater an event at my office. This equates to thousands of dollars I've given to support this locally owned business. The fact that this business won't supply a mask to a regular customer who forgot their mask and on top of that, tolerate their employees to act so aggressively and hostile towards a patron is completely inexcusable. Never once in the last two years of this pandemic have I experienced something like this. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.
I will never spend another dollar at this location or any others in the area...
Read moreI go to subway a lot and I don’t usually pay much attention to my overall experience as I’m typically just hangry BUT today was different. Mike at the 192nd location was the best customer liaison and all around great person, he was so patient and helpful with not only us but shortly after we sat down to eat an elderly man came in asking a lot of questions and didn’t seem to have ever been to a subway before and he was so kind, and patient and informative and then walked out from behind his sandwich making booth and opened the door as this man had a walker and it just melted my heart. Promote him, give him a raise or just share this review with him because he is what places need to make a normally boring quick experience,...
Read moreGabriella is a wonderful employee at this subway station. I got charged for a chips due to the computer error. which should not have been charged cuz the weekly special is charged on one single transaction. I got the weekly sub special (foot long) with chips and drinks included, which should’ve been $10.89 but due to so many customers coming in at once, everything got rushed. But Gabriella was very nice, respectful and responsible, voided the extra charge and charged the right amount :). I highly recommend her to be manager. She’s got the perfect personality and heart for it. Thank you so...
