I would have given this a five star, our waitress was amazing and absolutely angel. She was friendly, kind, listened to everyone, and had suggestions. Perfect. It was at the end. When the bill came, our waitress went on break and asked a hostess to bring our bill. She did, and someone at the table asked for two bills. I added hearts on the items for one bill, and the rest of the items would be on the other bill. This happens often in said situations. I went to the restroom while the bill was being split. Well, the hostess didn't understand and asked another co-worker to help clarify, Besty came to the table. Once Besty was told what needed to be on said bills, she snatched the check out of their hands and walked away. This happened in front of a child, two grown men and a woman. Yikes. When Betsy came back, she threw the check on the table. Credit cards were taken, and when she came back, she threw the check and cards. One of the receipts was not for our table. So we got someone else's bill. Lol, We were later told this was a regular occurrence with Betsy as she's done with other regulars we spoke to that day!!!! This type of "service" is a deal breaker for many, us included, especially on a beautiful Sunday morning. No one wants to be treated this way. No one wants an interaction like this to spoil their day. This was all we talked about when we went shopping afterward. We certainly can't be the first to complain about this person, and I'm sure not the last. Betsy, you need to find a new line of work. I don't think...
Read moreMy experience today was definitely five star. My hubby & I did wait about 15 minutes. But we came during rush hour (9-10am). As soon as we got seated we were greeted by Loida who was our friendly waitress. I asked her for her which is her favorite plate, she replied the "grilled chicken sandwich". It comes with sourdough bread, avocado, tomato, bacon and cheese. So I took her suggestion and order exactly that. I was satisfied it definitely was delicious. It also came with a side, I choose the pea soup. Which was amazing and good portion. I had some leftovers, you bet I took that in a doggy bag. It is kind of noisy which I don't mind but if you want a quiet breakfast this is definitely not your place. I like the atmosphere everybody's happy The waitresses are kind the food is delicious everything's clean restrooms are clean and yeah five star give it a try. Thank you Loida you were very kind and your hospitality...
Read moreI am dedicating this review in honor of the passing of Jonathan Gold yesterday when I visited this restaurant. He was the greatest champion of the small local restaurant.
We originally were hooked on the old Ojai location. The new owners there quickly put that place out of business, and not because of the name change.
Had the Chile Verde Huevos. It is the best if two great gringo Mexican breakfasts. The Chile Verde was flavorful and just spicy enough to fire up the sinus. Find the little hidden counter at the back to get great service and people watch some of your E Ventura neighbors.
Their coffee has always been that smooth diner brew that meets the needs, but does not over reach to fancy gourmet status. It had been years since being here and I am glad the place is keeping up the quality. Every server had that local neighbor friendliness.
Not the prettiest location, but it is back on my regular...
