Ventura Crab N Spice — Restaurant in Ventura

This is the very first time I have felt discriminated against in Ventura. Never have I experienced this type of treatment here, especially in a city that is significantly Hispanic. First of all, from entering the premises of this restaurant, my friends and I had to wait over 10 minutes. Now I understand it was a bit packed, but not acknowledging us with a simple greeting was already a bad start. When we were seated, we ordered the food and all was well. However, I ran out of ketchup halfway through my fries and so I decided to ask the workers for more ketchup. I asked one of the workers and they told us they would bring it. However, she went behind the counter and attended other customers. So one of my friends decided to ask another one of the workers and she told us the same thing, that she would get it right away. She too went behind the counter and slithered past our table to take other people's orders. My friends and I were starting to get frustrated because our food was getting cold and still no ketchup was brought. We could’ve gotten it ourselves if there was a ketchup machine available for customers. I recommend adding one to satisfy customers because I am pretty sure we are not the only customers that have been ignored. We asked the final worker that was working there the same thing and she also told us she would get the ketchup. I believed her because I saw her getting a bottle that looked like ketchup and doing something with it. But she never came to us again. When a customer was leaving, she was given 4 souffle cups with ketchup in it. Where was our ketchup? This worker also kept giving up snarky looks and when we tried to get her attention, she would just move past us. We kept getting these weird looks from her until we were about to leave after being dissatisfied from not receiving ketchup. My popcorn chicken was left flavorless without the ketchup that was rightfully needed, so I couldn't enjoy my food at all. Nor could my friend. When my friends went to pay the bill, this same lady came up to us and decided to ask if we were ready for the bill. Where was this behavior when we asked for the ketchup? Only coming up to us when it's convenient for them. It doesn't help the fact that we were the only Hispanic people in the restaurant getting served by white workers. Having us ask all the workers working there for such a simple thing and none attending us, made us feel very overlooked and extremely disappointed. I really hope this was not racially motivated, but the difference in treatment between us and other customers makes it hard to believe it's not. My friend invited me out saying this place was the best unfortunately my experience was horrible. We arrived at 530 and were told 30 minute wait, we waited for 45 then went back in and waited another 15 minutes to be seated.

Started with the drink and I asked for a separate bill since I was also placing a to-go order. I first ordered a corona and after everyone else was brought drinks told they were sold out, asked for a Stella and also sold out ended up with a Modelo .

For food I ordered the captains choice combo with a to-go order garlic noodles, shrimp pasta, clam chowder bowl and a Thai iced tea. The server told me you were out of snow crab so I couldn’t get the combo. I asked if I could pay the $30 difference from snow to king crab and after she asked someone else I was told no. I then asked for the Pirates choice combo and was told they were also out of mussels and couldn’t order that either. I had to order everything separately. Ordered King Crab, shrimp, corn, sausage, potatoes totaling over $100 double what my original order would have been . When the server brought the food she let me know they were also out of garlic noodles I said no problem and said I’ll do two orders of pasta instead. We were never brought crab utensils and gloves so we walked over to the booth to get them. We were never checked back in on or got a drink refill or checked in on. After we were done eating we waited for another 30 minutes before asking the waiter for our bills and to-go order. We were brought the bill and it was all on one. The waiter then told me they were also out of the pasta and chowder. I said okay I’ll just take the thia tea. After leaving with all three of our cards she came back and told me they were also out of the mix for Thai tea. She then brought the receipts and charged all of our cards the wrong orders and amounts instead of asking her to fix it we all just decided to Zelle each other the correct amounts.

I would like to add it was busy and the server was apologetic stating no one knows how to order right so you’re always running out of things. She was also nice and polite but the standard of service was poor. It was a horrible experience i will never eat or recommend this...

Hadn’t been in a while but went with my family to eat and as soon as I walked in I noticed the servers just looked unprofessional and like they couldn’t care less about there job one in particular which was unfortunately ours was very loud and obnoxious and checked on us twice within the 1 1/2 we were there we had to ask the other server that was there that actually attended to her tables better but I did see her sneeze into her hand and I don’t know if she washed her hands after 🥴 I also could see the servers talking in the back and we asked for chicken wings and onion rings and they brought us onion rings and Cajun fries so they had to put that in which took another 30minutes and wanted to try the beignets and since our server was no where to be found we asked the other one and she said she would tell our server didn’t tell our server we got up and had to go ask our server and she said oh you wanted beignets it will be another 10-15minutes so we only tipped her under 15% because of the horrible service I think they got a new restaurant manager which is a lady and it doesn’t really come back to the the servers it comes back to her because she lets them be unprofessional and is okay with them not doing their jobs well will not be coming back for a while food was good but customer service was trash sad because I come here occasionally but service was just awful I believe the girls name was Tay that was very slow, unprofessional & inattentive to her tables unless they were...
