I love Firehouse Subs. Where I am originally from has a superb Firehouse Subs location. When I moved to Ventura I was very pleased that there was a local Firehouse Subs here, but it's just not good and overly expensive for what it is every time I try to give it another chance and order food here.
The employees are nice usually, but they must all have previously worked for BK with how soggy they make sandwiches. I've never in my life had a sub, with thick sub bread, be so soggy and falling apart in my entire life. The lettuce and tomato is always so limp, slimey and squishy. The sandwiches I get have a slightly off smell, like the ingredients have already been out sitting for days. Like, every sandwich I've gotten is soaking wet and has the flavor essence of "the inside of a refrigerator that something has gone bad inside".
You might be able to enjoy your sub if you get no sauces/spreads, or just have them put it on the side to apply yourself. But that still doesn't fix the freshness of the veggies and the meat issue.
This place is just way too expensive for what it is, especially if they're constantly serving sopping wet soggy subs that have nearly rotten veggies on them. I usually split my 12in subs into two separate meals, but this location makes them so soggy you can barely stomach eating it when its fresh, let alone leftover.
I ordered a 12in size sub and a salad that was literally just a big bowl of limp wet lettuce with a few wet old tomatoes and sprinkle cheese for a total of $30 for a single person on fast food that I ended up throwing out because the bread was literally so soaked it dissolved and the rotten smell coming from the limp, wet veggies was enough to make me fear for illness.
There are just a lot better places to pick up takeout in Ventura that have quality, fresh food where a single person can eat multiple times off a $30 order with no issue. If a single sandwich and a bowl of lettuce costs $30, I should be 100% confident I am going to be able to eat the meal and not be given some disgusting wet smelly food that barely thrown together into a soggy box. The $10-$15 bowl of just lettuce and tomato y'all call a salad better be fresh, edible lettuce at the very least.

Read moreI happened to have dined here last Spring. A friend of mine stopped by this shopping center and I was starving. I really wanted Subway,,but then I thought,,why not . She was kind enough to wait on me as I went inside to order food. Parking was easy and there wasn't a long line. There were customers and this place is very unique in decorations. Unlike some sandwich shops. From what I do recall is I selected my toppings,my drink and I paid up front. While I waited for the sandwich,,a few more people began to come in. This location is very popular with Door-Dash and food delivery apps. I collected my drink from a machine that was separate from the cash register area. When my meal was ready,,I tipped the server. The food is passed over a tall counter top. I did photograph many pictures.. How would I compare this to Subway "?? Let's say this ..the sandwich wasn't my favorite (lack luster) ,,not a lot of heavy seasonings. It is more for the health conscious eater,,I am guessing??. Read moreNo hello, no can I help you, and no customers, go figure. Ordered a large brisket sandwich that was ice cold. I kinda figured something was up when everyone ignored me and there was literally no customers in the place. I suggest you don't do what I did, ordered online, 1.5 hours before I could get there. They obviously got the order and ignored the fact that I set the pick up time 1.5 hours after the order came in. I would not be taking my time to write this if someone would have owned up to the mistake. They just seemed like the types to ignore the customer and hope he goes away before noticing. I have deleted the app and have no plans on returning.
10/2/22 I decide to give this place a second shot at my business. I place a online order, site says pick up in 10 minutes. I wait 15 to be safe, I walk in and no one is in the restaurant, I tell out "anyone working?. A female came out and ask what's the order name, I said guess, since there no order I.
