Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Ventura

Okay Venturans y'all need to start giving the Papa a chance again! If you're around my age, Papa Johns might not have the best reputation in your mind as a place that has consistent good quality, but let me tell y'all, that's not the case at this location! I am not sure if all the locations have improved this much, but this Papa Johns keeps giving me the best, most hot, most cheesy, delicious Ninja Turtles style nostalgic pizza.

I am not joking when I say I've ordered the same pizza twice just this week because I kept thinking about it the whole week since I had it last. Embarrassingly, I've ordered 4 times from here just this month, and I am usually a Toppers Girly. That's how good it is.

I've been getting the stuffed crust with extra cheese, extra of the 3 cheese blend, cooked well done and it comes out like the perfect cheesy pizza that you're craving if you're a cheesehead like me. They even get those little cook marks on the cheese and the cheese PULLS when you bite into it... Oh my... I am might just order another one RIGHT NOW!

The people who work there are so kind and excited to see you enjoy the pizza they make. It's really rare around Ventura to find dependable places with employees who consistently realize they're making someone in their community dinner. Someone who also worked all day long and they want hot food that is made with a level of care and not just slapping it all together just to move customers through as fast as possible. Don't get me wrong, this place is FAST, it's just that they obviously have attention to detail and enjoy serving their community amazing food.

I really wanted to give this place five stars. I really enjoyed it when it was open but then it closed and now it’s reopened. We recently ordered from them on Valentine’s Day, that is today and our order was completely completely messed up. Let me give you some more details.

If you look at my other reviews, you’ll notice that I rarely give a one star rating. We ordered pizza for our kids on Valentine’s Day and we ordered heart-shaped pizzas. My wife plugged the order in online and asked for the pizza to be here at 5:30 PM. Just let me remind you that she ordered the pizzas at 2 PM. The pizzas finally arrived to our house at 6:25 PM. Pretty much they were an hour late.

We went to open the boxes, and none of our pizzas were heart-shaped. You can see the pictures that I have attached. We specifically ordered from Papa John’s and not Domino’s because Papa John’s had heart-shaped pizzas. You will notice that none of our pizzas are heart-shaped.

We ordered one pizza for the adults. That had breakfast bacon and pineapple on it. For some reason it barely had any cheese on it. We had to call the store and ask them for a refund. They wanted to give us a store credit, but we would not like to order from them again. I hope that you have a better experience...

My pizza arrived in 23 minutes. When the deliver driver handed it to me I realized the order was wrong. I thought I'd ordered two pizza's a two twenty ounce Mt. Dews. I explained it was wrong and she left me with the pizza and ran back to the car to get her phone. I also got my phone and realized I WAS WRONG at least about the pizza. Somehow my second pizza never made it to the order. I had ordered two 20 ounce drinks and she owned she'd mistakenly grabbed two two liters. She offered to order the other pizza and I explained we could do with one. I should have offered to give one of the two liters back but I didn't think of it and she didn't ask. It's 80 degrees and we've already made it through the first two liter. She was pleasant, polite, apologetic and kind. I say this and take the time to rate her/Papa Johns as two nights ago I ordered pizza from our usual Domino's and after 60 minutes with no delivery it took me another ten on the phone to cancel the order that they assured me should be at my house soon as it was sent out with the driver 33 minutes before I called.
