My wife and I are regulars at I love Sushi. Last week on Wednesday before thanksgiving, I took do some friends from out of town. We spoke highly about I love Sushi but were extremely disappointed and wanted to leave a review in hopes that this will not happen again. To start, our server was not very attentive and made several mistakes on our order. Even during the time she read the order back to us she seemed to be lost. We attempted to correct her and she just kept reading the order, incorrectly, while ignoring our comments. Next, the sushi was not very good, we love salmon and ordered salmon sushi, but this sushi did not look or taste like salmon, it was a tough piece of fish with almost no fat lines to speak of. This was a theme with all the other sushi, definitely not what I expected. I am beginning to think the sushi bar customers get the best cuts, I know this because we normally sit at the sushi bar. We also order yellow tail collar only to be disappointed with the quality and the over cooked fish. Last but not least, when our order was brought out, we let the server know they made a mistake on our order to which she responded with a snark remark about checking our order. She then came back and told us the paper we mark to order was lost, but if it was lost, how did they know what we order and what they charged us for? Trivial at best. Needless to say this was the worse experience we had at I love Sushi and will be looking for another sushi to frequent.
Update on I love sushi: We gave I love sushi another opportunity on a Thursday, which was our regular day, and they did a great job. I talked to the manager and they assured me that the service and food would be better than our previous experience and apologized for the mistakes made previously. We had a much better, like night and day. The food was what I remember and even though it was busy, they made up for the mistakes. We had a great meal and a...
Read moreI used to love this place. Been a big fan for years until last night. The 2nd star is only because my past loyalty made me give them the benefit of the doubt. The different fish I took home was terrible and very much uncharacteristic of the old owner’s restaurant. *Yes, apparently there are new owners (according to the new staff)… The salmon in one roll was slimy and had a very off flavor. The Hamachi sushi was fishy and definitely not fresh. Same for the Saba (mackerel) sushi - definitely not fresh. I’ve found that occasionally even good sushi restaurants might serve a particular fish that’s not quite as fresh as one would prefer BUT I don’t remember ever having this type of poor performance across-the-board, especially from a restaurant with such a great and proven track record. Out of the 5 different rolls and two different sushi I ordered, all were either very poor quality or inedible. I should have known the quality was going to suffer when they didn’t serve the small complementary edamame with the beer I ordered while I waited for my to go order. When a restaurant starts cutting out the small details like a tiny bowl of edamame with a beer, it’s obvious they are cutting costs at the smallest levels. One has to assume the same cost cutting applies to the quality and freshness of the fish (as obviously also evidenced by my order). I can’t see how I could ever recommend this place again nor can I imagine trying it again myself....
Read moreWent to dinner tonight with my kids. We were sat promptly, excellent service by our server. We got our drinks and ordered dinner. 3 of us were seated at a 4 top with an open 2 top and open 4 top on either side of us.
We received our food and began eating, enjoying the evening. An 8 top party showed up and asked to be seated. Behind our table was a 10 top that had finished their meal and was talking, presumably preparing to leave.
Instead of notifying the incoming 8 top to wait a few minutes, the manager came to our table and asked us (with food at our table) to get up and move to the 2 top and scoot over so they could add our table to the open 4 top next to us in order to seat the 8 top party.
I have never been treated with such disrespect in a restaurant. I asked for our check, mid dinner. I had to ask multiple times until the manager realized what was happening and said our dinner was paid for. I got up with my kids and we left.
It is unfortunate that I write this because this restaurant has my favorite roll ever and I know I won't be able to enjoy it again due to the treatment of my family by the staff.
Do not seat a table, give them their meal, then ask them to move because another party showed up and has to wait a few minutes...
