The Taco Shop Mexican Kitchen — Restaurant in Ventura

Spot seems pretty nice overall, especially since it’s brand new. Everything is very fresh and clean inside. Staff is super friendly and nice. They are still very fresh as well still getting familiar with the menu and the process of everything. Not really much seating to actually sit and eat your food on site. Menu has lots of nice options, prices aren’t listed which seems like a strange trend. Lots of good drinks on the menu too which is nice. This time passing through I just picked up some chips and guacamole with salsa. It all tasted very good and flavorful. Guacamole was citrusy which was nice. I ordered 4 red salsas and 2 green and got the opposite of that which was unfortunate cause the family wanted red and only I eat green salsa. They also have a bit of a upscale bougie vibe so you’ll be paying a bit more then back in the neighborhood. Had such a weird experience. I ordered 6 burritos to-go (all the same), to share w/ friends. When I left after picking up my order, I immediately got a call from and 805/Ventura #. I normally don’t answer calls I don’t know, but figured it might be the restaurant since I just left and took the call. The restaurant told me they gave me the wrong order and asked me to come back. I assumed, they didn’t give me my order or left something out. I went back and they said they gave me an extra burrito (so I had 7 burritos instead of 6)….She asked for it back! Literally took the extra burrito from me, and said her kitchen refused to make another (for the customer who it was for). WHAT?! Lady, I just spent over $80 at your establishment. And you had me turn around for that?! Not to mention, I left the premises…. You can’t give that food to someone now…!!! The burrito was mediocre and gave me the runs....

The vibe of the restaurant is nice. It gives off kind of homey cozy vibes which is attractive to most. But I ended up waiting forever for one burrito and chips. Which by the way, there were only a baby’s handful size of chips in a bag meant for an adult 🤣⚰️. On top of that, people that came in after me got their food before me which was an order of a few burritos when I only got ONE!? So to my surprise of walking into a nice Mexican establishment I ended up with a mid tier burrito and enough chips to feed a hampster.
