Sweet Desires Espresso Bar & Bakery — Restaurant in Vero Beach

I spent almost 9 years living in Seattle, WA, so I consider myself a coffee snob and up to this point, I had only found 1 place in Vero Beach that made legitimate coffee until today. Sweet Desires Espresso Bar & Bakery is stellar! I got a hot, flat white and wasn't disappointed. The espresso was super strong without any bitterness and the milk had the perfect amount of foam and creaminess. There was no need to add any flavored syrup, although their syrup selection included 2 of my favorite types: Butterscotch and Roasted Hazelnut, so I'm sure I will try them in the future. If I had anything to change about the coffee, would be having a larger-sized "large" as 12 oz. is not enough for me :) Update: I just got an iced Red Eye and with iced drinks, you have the option of either 16 or 20 oz, which is perfect!

I also got an almond croissant, which was delightfully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with just the right amount of almond paste. Delicious!

I have been getting coffee from Sweet Desires Espresso Bar & Bakery since they first opened, and yesterday I had the pleasure of coordinating a birthday breakfast for my office that included cranberry and orange scones, blueberry cinnamon muffins with cardamom, orange and chocolate chip muffins, two different types of quiche, and vanilla cold brew – all to go!

The full-service detail that went into everything, from the packaging to the garnishes, was truly unlike any other personal touch you will see in town. I did read back some earlier reviews of Sweet Desires, and if you haven’t been in a while, I would encourage you to check it out again! The owners have really listened to feedback, and now the interior is bright and welcoming, and the baristas will ask you how you like your coffee and make it to taste. We even called from my office one day to request brownies, and the pastry chef had them ready for us the next day! The coffee was good but beware of their pricing strategy. After I left i did some math and it doesn't really make sense.... You get 2 shots of espresso in a latte regardless of the size...so a small is $5 and a large is $8 but that means I'm paying 3$ just for 4 ounces of milk??

So I said I wanted 4 shots with half n half instead of milk...I get charged for a large and for 2 additional shots and it was over $11??? If I am not getting the extra cream and I'm paying for extra espresso, I feel like it should be a small at this point. This is probably the only place that does not give additional espresso as you size up.

Granted they did not charge for my halfnhalf substitute since it was already over $11 and for that and the taste they get 3 stars but it really feels like being ripped off when I can get 2 of these at the buck for...
