Mama Hue — Restaurant in Vero Beach

As a Vietnamese person growing up eating authentic Vietnamese food everyday, I feel that I can write this review with credibility.

I heard about this place and wanted to give it a try to support local businesses. I came in to try the “Bun Bo Hue”. Before adding any garnishes or condiments into the bowl, I tried the broth first. The broth tasted like their other menu item “Mama Hue noodle soup/Banh Canh”. It didn’t taste like Bun Bo Hue at all! If you’re going to make a noodle base soup for customers, it should taste authentic and have that flavor. The broth was very off base. Worst yet, the meat was mostly minced up and in pieces. It lacked the other meat and fillings that you would typically find in “Bun Bo Hue”. Finally, the noodles were mushy and flat. They overcooked the noodles. With all of that, the entire dish was inedible. I took 3-4 sips and could not even finish the bowl of noodle soup. To claim “authentic Vietnamese cuisine” in their title is being a bit dishonest. I just felt so let down by this restaurant. It was not authentic food at all. Plus, the “Bun Bo Hue” bowl was almost $20!

It’s simply the best Vietnamese food around. The service is great - support this family and keep small businesses and authentic food alive. Skip over the rest and just come eat at Mama Hue! You cannot beat this delicious food…chicken broth Pho with brisket is our favorite dish here. But - EVERYTHING on the menu is top notch. Tapioca Dumplings, Gyozas, all of the rice platters, everything else, it’s amazing. I had their pad Thai delivered to the hospital when my nephew was born and ate it there simply because I couldn’t think of anything my family would rather eat on a special day like that. Authentic, flavorful, full of love, that’s how I would describe Mama Hue’s food. Thank you for making dishes that are an experience, for serving Vero Beach with kindness, and for creating something our family can enjoy every week and feel good about what we bought. I’ve been coming here for a while now! And they never EVER disappoint! I normally get take out with them. And the food is always great!! But I’m 9 months pregnant and due in 1 week. So i went for the first time as dine in with my sister, and it was just the BOMB! I actually just went there today to dine in and have a solo date with myself before my babygirl enters this world. And I just love the food, the customer service, l mean they know my name!! I’m telling you this place is just amazing 1000/10 recommend that you come here for some delish pho or even the rice platter, so freaking good!!
