We came from out of town for a funeral, which happened to take place on my birthday, so my parents wanted to take me out for lunch. My absolute favorite food is a bombass burger. You can call me basic, but I call it American. Being a Sunday, nearly every place we picked out was closed so we kept going down the list and came to Brown Bag Saloon with great reviews. The atmosphere Definitely felt more bar, and less bar and grill. But still, didn't feel inappropriate for my 3 youngsters to accompany for lunch.
The good: The burgers were AMAZING. and portions were generous. We ordered 3 burger baskets, and a sampler appetizer and it was more than plenty for myself, 2 parents, 14,13 and 9 year old. Every Texan knows how important a good side of ranch is dipping, pouring, drinking ... And they did not disappoint with their made-in-house sauce. The fries were also cut from fresh and delivered the perfect amount of mush/al dente combination every carbaholic looks for in a good French fry.
The bad: The prices reflected online were incorrect and the current menu featured higher prices than anticipated.
Soft drinks were uncharacteristically high being over $3 for a soda. And we were charged a service fee of $7 which was not noted in the "fine print" on the menu. Guessing it was a charge for not ordering alcohol??? So I'm hoping the waitress got that as her tip, because we refused to get charged $7 on a $50 tab and then pay an additional tip on top. That was unexpected.
All in all. Not a bad establishment. Would love to stop in on a Friday night and see what they have to offer along the lines of drinks and...

Read moreGave food 3 cause I didn't order food. Gave service and atmosphere 2 because it seemed fun for a while. I came in alone after a really long hard day of work to have a couple drinks. Sat there for maybe 20 minutes enjoying my drink before trying to find the rr. Went back for another [maybe another 15 minutes] upon finishing my second drink the bartenders started patronizing me and ridiculing me based on the fact that I couldn't find the rr. As if I was drunk and belligerent or something, when I was nothing but extremely nice and honestly just didn't know where the rr was lol. Everything looks the same... I'm sorry I didn't find the rr right away??? Anyway I chalked it up to it's fine ig I'm not welcome here for some reason and tipped the bartender anyway because they were really cool but ig I won't be back even though it is a really cool bar near My place. đ. There are always other bars that won't interrogate you for not knowing where everything is like you own the place I guess... vibe completely...
