The Original Roadhouse Grill franchise carries a great restaurant legacy; unfortunately, this establishment does not live up to the name. The decor is well fitting and employees are properly trained and uniformed. Seating is appropriate as well as the warm rolls and sweet butter. However, this is where the adequate service stops. I am not sure how this place still has the foot traffic that it does--perhaps is because of the name. Now, onto the good stuff. Two different orders of pulled pork were ordered (to try out): the Carolina, and the BBQ. Both had the same level of quality...just shy of unedible! The "cold" straight out of the package ciabatta bread, and the "warm" coleslaw (not sure how these two's temperature got mixed up) were just as good as cold soup on a hot day. Ooopps, it was perhaps the frozen pork that laid inside it. On another plate (it's signature) the Original Roadhouse Sirloin Steak, the plate's appearance was astonishingly close to the menu's picture. Unfortunately, this is where is all stopped. The meat had the same great texture and taste out of a $20 replacement tire. It is inconceivable that a restaurant can mess up its signature dish. Not sure how that is possible. The baked potato had a good look and consistency according to the picture on the menu. Unfortunately, the gummy-bears for bacon, battle hardened cheese, and non-existent chives were not too tasteful. In conclusion, it is not recommended to attend during busy hours (not sure how this is possible in lieu of the quality). The lines may get a little out of hand. The pricing would be suitable if the food's quality, and taste matched the rest of the franchise. Beer selection is wide; however, I did not want to spend a penny more. It is unfortunate that they would not be making any more money out out me. One last thing, their military friendly discount only applies to one plate; the least expensive. So if you're looking to consume a nice Class-C food quality meal, and pay $20 per plate, come on down and have...
Read moreI've lived all over the country, thanks to the US Army, and had a lot of different styles of BBQ. As a California, I hate to say that Texas style is definitely my favorite. The food here was phenomenal and definitely way better Texas style BBQ than you'd expect for a chain restaurant. My wife and I both absolutely loved the food! I got the tri tip and everything from the glaze, to the perfect medium cook temp, to the cut of meat itself was better than I could have ever expected! We'd been working on a housecall for our line of business out in the Silver Lakes area since about 8 am that day, so by 4pm when we got there we were definitely ready to eat. We got the appetizer sampler and everything on it was delicious. If you've gotten this far in my review, you're probably wondering why I gave them three stars. It was the service. The hostess was super nice, got us seated immediately, took our drink order, and was just all around wonderful. The waitress was less great. We weren't really sure why, and I don't want to make assumptions, but the situation left us feeling like maybe our kind of people or just not regular/local people weren't really welcome there. Our kind of people being two women, one of which is going through chemotherapy and maybe doesn't look as feminine with no hair as they may have liked for her to. The three other tables in our section all were checked on four or five times each for every one time we were, which inclined us to think there was something about us that was deemed undesirable by the waitress. We would probably not have gone back again anyway, just because we live down the hill, but it was very clear to us that should we find ourselves nearby again in the future this particular restaurant wasn't the place for two gals married to each other from out of town to stop by again. At least not until that pesky chemo stops making my wife not feminine presenting enough to fit...
Read moreHave had many past negative experiences and never intended to go back; except I got a $10 free gift card in the mail (hmm...wonder why?) which was to expire soon and it had been a few years since my last visit. Thought I would give them another try... So I ordered the spinach avocado chicken sandwich over the phone and drove to pick it up. When I arrived at 5:00 on a Wednesday the parking lot was pretty much empty. I walk inside and there is literally no one in there. The lady informs me she thought I said northwest chicken salad and that it would be about a 10-15 minute wait when my blood sugar was already at bottom. Then the girl that rings me out points to the fine print on the back of the card that states must be with a minimum $30 purchase. Total before any tip for the sandwich was $13.49. I told her the sandwich on the online menu said $11.49 so we looked at the menu at the restaurant and it magically said $12.49 plus tax was $13.49. So I paid and rushed home to devour my food which came with a small helping of soggy, tasteless french fries. The sandwich was ok but nothing special. I reconfirmed the online menu price as $11.49 as well. Needless to say, the "free $10 gift card" is worthless to me as I won't be going back to this place ever again. Don't see this place lasting much longer given the abundantly successful competition along "restaurant row" and would recommend most any of the alternative choices if you are in the area with the exception of Chili's who is nearly equally as...
