Samurai Sushi — Restaurant in Victorville

i love this restaurant - cannot stress enough, i LOVE this restaurant. this has been my only go-to sushi place for years. Ive never experienced anything less than amazing food and amazing service. however, the last time i visited i absolutely didn't have that same experience. for some context, my wife and i were coming in for our very last time because we were about ready to move out of country. the food, as per ALWAYS, was phenomenal. to this day, i have never had any complaints about the food, those chefs are absolutely amazing. the service, however, was a much different experience. when my wife and i arrived, there was only one other table in there, a four-top. what my wife and i experienced during the entire duration of our visit boils down to this — we got completely, entirely ignored in favor of the group of four. we had to signal for our own drinks, when we were ready to order, when we needed something extra, when we needed the bill AND when we needed to pay. i don't remember the waitresses name, but she's the only one i've ever seen wear black in the three years i've been coming. this was also my first time being served by her. from our perspective, the table of four was getting every single bit of attention. as we were eating, about four more tables came in and they received the same exact service we did. to say i'm disappointed would be an understatement, as my wife and i were hoping to have the same experience we've always had during our very last visit.

this review is not to make people steer clear of the restaurant - as stated previously, i adore this restaurant. the food is amazing, and before this last time, the service has always been amazing. i just wanted to shed light on our last experience, as it left both of us very disappointed.

Holy moly!!! This place is great!! So the fish is fresh, the rolls are perfect size, and wow, the SAUCES!!!! The sauces are delicious!!! New favorite sushi spot. The crab mussels are way better than loaded mussels (which are a favorite for me anywhere they have them). These blow those out of the water, with a little lemon juice, just perfection. The pepper salmon was so soft and perfect pepper on the edges, dip in soy sauce for a salt and pepper taste. The hand roll was fresh and the seaweed was crisp, not soggy and hard to bite. The Superman burrito was a mix of perfect flavors, and the sauce that it comes with is not spicy more sweet. Definitely recommend the tempura Shishito peppers if available (i dont think they are on the menu, so ask, they aren't spicy). Also, get mustard sauce to dip EVERYTHING in. Had date night with my wife a few nights ago after finishing a Costco run and headed over. We ordered a few rolls, Yellow Tail belly sushi, Garlic Edamame, and they threw in some tempura shishito peppers with a cucumber salad compliments of the chef. The yellow tail belly was delicious, nice thick slices of fatty yellow tail. We ordered the Garlic Albacore, Sexy Night and Spicy Tataki Rolls. The garlic albacore roll was a little dry, but it is one of their low price rolls, so nothing fancy about it, and still flavorful. The spicy tataki roll was my favorite, loaded with fish and tons of flavor. Sweet, spicy, tangy. My wife preferred the Sexy Night with the spicy tuna and little bit of crunch from the tempura flakes.
