Ok… so.. being from Cali, I have a taste for good Mexican food.. love the culture… love the food .. and the food trucks in Oxnard CA are the biggity bomb 💣 lol 😂 so I’m a little spoiled.
To start: The Greeting, atmosphere and service were on point
Chips and Salsa … very good. Ask for the secret spicy salsa ;)
Food Order: Steak Fajitas and Pastor Street Tacos
Mexican Rice .. meh.. not bad, had some added corn and little pieces of tomatoes etc.. but still seemed like it was missing something.. kinda bland and dry…
The refried beans or whatever that was that came with the fajitas, reminded me of baby food or more like a puree’ not a fan .. yuck ! Hard pass!
The whole beans were good but I’d request no ‘juice’ on the whole beans since it was a little bowl, with mostly liquid .. also could use a little less salt in my opinion.. and I could have used a soup spoon lol but only had a fork…
Guacamole that came with the fajitas was meh… (although I did see a table side Guacamole station, did not try that)
*Steak Fajitas were a good portion and fairly flavorful, however not 100% sure but I kinda feel the steak may have been lower quality and / or not prepared properly, being that it had an unusual flavor 🤔 can’t quite place it.. and was a little too chewy and too much gristle and fat. Would not order again.
*Pastor street tacos were flavored well, heavy on the pineapple and a little chewier than I’d expect for pastor.. also a little too much on the onion in my opinion, as there was a big chunk of onion intentionally placed in the middle of the dish. I get it.. but no… let’s not.. lol Anyway… There’s my input :) if your expecting authentic… I’d say it’s not exactly ‘authentic Mexican food’ But more commercialized Mexican food ..
Hope this helps those looking to decide on eating here and...
Read moreFirst visit at about 4PM on a Saturday. Part of the group actually didn’t spot the place at first because they don’t have the exterior signage in place yet. But they did have the Grand Opening banners out, and for a new place, they’re making an impressive debut.
The staff was great, with our server and the manager checking in many times throughout the visit, and lightning fast arrival of our food after ordering.
I’d recommend checking out the menu online before your visit. It’s got a huge selection of food and drink choices, so you could spend quite a while looking through everything.
I got the Diabolo for my drink, rest of the group split a pitcher of margaritas. Diabolo didn’t disappoint, with the jalapeños and spicy ingredients giving a nice kick and strong flavor.
For appetizer, got Guacamole prepared table side. Great fresh flavor and decent sized portions. And it’s a nice touch seeing it prepared, so you know it’s not just some premade stuff.
For entree, got the Burrito Special (pictured). Two big sturdy burritos, refried beans, rice and sauce came together for a great plateful.
I made sure to leave room for the Fried Ice Cream for dessert. Very nice! It comes on a base with a light churros style taste, with a smooth ice cream that’s either handmade or a great brand, but definitely superior taste.
I was impressed overall with how smoothly everything was running - many places are very chaotic during their opening stages, but it seemed like it was extremely well coordinated and service oriented. Great job all around - looking...
Read moreMy first time visiting this place & there was some pros & cons. The pros were the restaurant is very pretty inside & I loved how pretty the woman’s bathroom was inside. The pink flowers on the ceiling gave me that artistic vibe & I was all for it. I loved the Frida Kahlo painting. I ordered the Horchata drink & my parents ordered the agua de coco. As a Mexican, I truly appreciated that they offered agua frescas, because the Mexican restaurants I’ve been to, only offer Horchata. So, it was a bonus that this place offers more options for aguas frescas. Our server, he was nice but this is where the cons come in. When we ordered our food, my food came first & my parents food didn’t come out until 10-15 min later. I wanted to wait for their food to come so we can eat together, but I couldn’t wait anymore because I did not want my food to go cold. My mom ordered a caldo de camarón (shrimp soup) & my dad ordered a Chroi-steak. The chorizo was very greasy, to the point that my dad stopped eating it because it grossed him out. My mom had to order limes twice because when we would ask our server for something, he would bring an item but forget the other. It would take him another 10 minutes to bring the item. I ordered the chicken & steak fajitas, which were good but the tortillas were also greasy. So bad, to the point my entire hand was covered in grease. The rice & beans were not that great. They felt too sweet. After dinner, we ordered some churros which those were delicious. Overall, our...
