If you want to enjoy a quiet lunch or breakfast, this place at 10:30am on a Saturday is not for you. This joint, because it is so small, is one of the loudest places I have ever dined at.
If, however, you don't mind the sound of your food being prepared (CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP WHISK WHISK WHISK WHISK), and if you want great food at reasonable prices, hit this place.
I have no idea what this building originally contained (a hot dog joint?), but with something like 8 tables and a constant stream of patrons coming and going to eat in or take out, this tiny local joint serves up a damn decent meal.
I love finding these local secrets serendipitously.
Staff were very friendly, and service was fast.
Sometimes I judge a place by its fries, and by this standard, this place is way up there. Ordered well done, they are the "breaded and fried" type which I love. And well done, unlike many places, is well done here. OH GAWD they are good.
Ordered were the (four-egg) ham/cheese omelette (a bit lacking in fluff, maybe, for some), and the BLT club. Both were excellent.
The one thing that really makes me want to return here is the tomato/chicken/pasta soup (included with sandwich). This stuff was a perfect blend of sweet/sour/spicy and tender chicken chunks. I actually wanted to order a quart or more of the stuff to take home.
Note: A sign on the front door indicates that they stop serving...
Read moreI would never go back to this place. Please watch out, if you leave the tip which does not meet their expectations, you will be charged what they want you to pay. I was charged more than what i had agreed/signed to pay. Please avoid this place or always pay with credit card, keep your receipt copy and watch out for actual charges posted on your credit card.
This is exactly what they did to me. I signed to pay $61 but my CC was posted a charge of $74 WITHOUT prior knowledge or communication to customer at the time of payment. This is dishonest if not criminal conduct, to say the least. I do not mind paying extra gratuity but customer should be informed and it should be clearly known to customer what he is agreeing to pay. Its like staying at hotel and sign to pay $200 but couple days after checkout they charge your credit card $250 saying that you did not tip our room service staff. Doesnt make any sense.
Before disputing the charge with CC, when i called the owner, she was so rude and unprofessional, clearly indicating they are not interested in return business. I regret going to this family owned business and will stick to big restaurants next time with professional and...
Read moreFood can be good if that's all that ppl care about. HOWEVER, staff is all from one swindling family. They want to pay servers $4 per hour cash (against the law on multiple levels) They claim they don't have to pay you for training. (Also against the law). They also marry ketchup (which is a practice that is a violation if health food safety regulations). Been so for many years. They also do not set up proper sanitation stations. As in sanitary buckets for rags at server stations and don't have the three sinks set up. (Wash, rinse, sanitize) They dont think that's necessary. They also claim to be bug free however sweeping up flies and ants is not bug free. I am deeply disturbed by these practices in general and truly hope someone makes the right calls to get them updated. Marrying ketchups can lead to cross contamination of mold or spoiled ketchups which is food poisoning... They also marry syrups and hot sauces. (Not cool.) So while I watched as others enjoyed "good" food i could not allow myself to try it as I was unsure of safety. I hope this helps those trying to try new places... Perhaps spending a little more at The Krave less than a block...
