This is the review I wish I read BEFORE eating at DH WU Chinese restaurant. All these other reviews for this restaurant are from the owners’ cousins and uncles.
First off, the restaurant name “DH WU” means: Don’t Hope…Wholly Unpalatable
I ordered two items last night: Orange Chicken and Shrimp Lo Mein. I can confidently say it’s easy to meet or exceed the quality, taste, and texture of both these dishes at your local grocery frozen food section.
The noodles were dry and rubbery. Shrimp was unseasoned and over cooked. Chicken was way more fat than chicken. The orange sauce was actually quite tasty, so point for them!
I’m such a strong supporter of small business and family run establishments that I do feel a little guilty writing this review. However, to counter-balance that guilt, I also feel a deep civic obligation to warn the public that this restaurant should be forcibly CLOSED soonest.
The kitchen would never pass if inspected today. I could clearly see the kitchen floor had not been cleaned in many months. A dingy bed sheet separates the kitchen and cash-wrap area. Random boxes stacked waist high in every corner. Very similar to what you expect in a developing country. It’s a success, if that’s the ambiance they’re going for. I would be willing to over-look all the above shortcomings if the food compensated.
So, unless you are in a self-deprecating mood, drive the extra 15 minutes to Panda Express where at least you are expecting highly processed and well-seasoned Chinese food but with a cleaner ambiance.
Caveat: The above review assumes the diner is not starving. If starving, this food is great and I highly recommend. I mean…I didn’t vomit after eating it, so another...
Read moreDO NOT EAT!! This was the most disgusting food ive ever seen, smelled, or took a bit of. Beef, was all chopped up, grey, and slimey. Short Ribs, chopped up and mixed with some red thick ketchupy sauce. Potstickers - Not made in house, which is sad for asian cuisine. Rice - Overcooked small portion Noodles - even more overcooked no flavor.
I opted to try a new place. Ordered. While waiting for my delivery decided to look at the reviews.
They were right.
I even looked at one where the owner responded to another review. . . . A book really where no ownership was taken.
Dear owner, these reviews aren't wrong. Your food is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Everything. People may write bad reviews just because, but that is NOT the case here. They are correct. 💯 Your food should speak for itself, it clearly does in a...
Read moreWell, we ordered DH WHU twice, both times because our first selection was closed. I can’t say anything bad about the staff. They were attentive and polite. In regard to the food, I feel my 8 year old could cook better with a recipe off google. Some dishes are marginally decent, though most we tried were only food for the insinkerator. I have heard good things about the Thai restaurants in Pickerington, and AJ Wingburger’s Korean, but Pickerington’s Chinese Restaurants have got to some of the worst in the country. If you really must have Chinese, take the time to drive to Canal Winchester and eat at Dragon China. Even If gas were $10/gal, I’d still drive to Canal. Heck, I’d walk. I am curious to see if those who provided high marks for DH WHU have eaten Chinese anywhere other than...
