Baladi Mediterranean Cafe — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

Coming from out of state for an event and came across this Mediterranean restaurant. The first night my fiancé and I ate there the food was indeed good. The spicy tahini tofu dish was delicious. It had an abundance of flavors, maybe a bit too much. It was rich. I also had the lentil soup which was great.

We came back two days later… Again, the appetizers were delicious. We ordered two dips. But then our entrees came. My fiancés lamb wrap was tough, fatty, inedible, except the lettuce. I ordered the same tofu dish, but unfortunately it was totally different.

The tofu in my dish was tough, chewy and tastes foul. I mentioned this to our server, who later brought out another piece of tofu. By the texture alone, I could tell it looked as though it had been frozen. When I politely mentioned that, he insisted it wasn’t. At that point, I kindly asked for the check, as I didn’t finish my meal — it lacked the main protein and overall flavor.

When we received the bill, I was disappointed to see we were still charged $20 for a dish that was barely eaten and clearly not...

we have eaten here our fair share and we went saturday night and must say by far was the worse service I have ever received. The lady who waited on us wa snot dressed as a waiter so she must have been a manager. She came and took our orders and when the food was brought never seen her again. My water was all most gone when I finished my meal and could have used more. Never came over to check on us or see how the food was or ask if we wanted desert. When done, my wife had to get up, as no one was on the floor or bar, and get a take home box. Still waiting for the bill, we eventually had to get up and flag down a waiter to get a bill. This was unacceptable service and if she was a manger was not very good. My wife at one time said no one from the staff was up front! This may have ruined it for us ever...

We used Baladi to cater our company outing last week and everyone LOVED it! The owner himself brought and set up everything for us, and he even gave us free hot sauce since it was our first time catering with them. He was so kind, approachable, and explained the food to those who have not had Baladi before. We will definitely be using them to cater again in the future, and I will now be a regular guest at...
