I called in an order of lumpia to take to a birthday party. They were extremely slow when I arrived. I was next the person in line to be serviced. The person manning the register and pick ups for to go orders decided to have a conversation with the customer in back of me. The same person behind the counter went to the cooking area, returned with what appeared to favor bacon. Mind you, I am still next in line and waiting to be taken care of. This person starts cutting the bacon-like dish, then added a barbecue sauce. I am thinking, well maybe this woman/employee was prepping this item to replenish an a la carte selection. Instead this cashier/employee wraps up this bacon-like order, beckons for the customer she knew behind me for her credit card and completed her transaction. I started to request the manager or thought of walking out. This order was a special request for a small birthday celebration and I didn't want to be late.
I had to demand my receipt. This person claimed they didn't give receipts. I reminded this employee/cashier that she just gave her friend that she took ahead of me, a receipt. Reluctantly, she gave me a receipt. There was a Latino couple that walked in and was behind me. The couple inquired what I had ordered by addressing the cashier who ignored their question, then me. Instead, the employee/cashier glanced at the growing line for in-house diners. I answered the Latino's couple questions re quantity, and the price which they asked. This same employee/cashier was rude, dismissive, evasive and very abrupt to the Latino couple in back of me who was trying to place an order.
Obviously, preferential treatment was the order of the day as displayed by this employee/cashier. I will be following up with the manager or higher. I am sure this is unacceptable behavior for the owner/owners by this employee/cashier. This act, I gather, is a poor reflection on Ihaw Ihaw. Just to think I picked Ihaw Ihaw over going to Jolli-Bee, Red Ribbon, Felynn Oriental Restaurant, Nipa Hut and others. Never again. It seemed obvious not all money was welcome here by this employee/cashier. Ihaw Ihaw should be careful of whom they put as the face of their business representing their establishment. And, the message they want to send as to whom they prefer to serve. I am very...
Read moreIhaw-ihaw restaurant is good enough, authentic enough, and authentically greasy Filipino cafeteria. It would have been better experience for us if they actually have all the things posted on their menu like the lumpia, sisig platter, crispy pata, and steamed siopao. So, we ordered pansit platter which is supposed to come with lumpia, but they were out. So, it was subbed with pork adobo. We also ordered two of the 2-entry platters, and we picked all pork dishes: binaguongan, dinuguan, menudo, and sinigang broth which also came with 3 cups of steamed rice. We have a go to Filipino cafeteria, and we pretty much base our judgment with their cooking because they are really good. Comparing Ihaw-ihaw with them, Ihaw-ihaw is cheaper, but servings are smaller; place is not as crowded, yet the service is very slow; food tasted okay, greasy, but not salty which is a plus for me. Also, their pansit is not as good; it’s very bland. Will I be back? Yes, especially if my favorite place is packed and very busy. Ihaw-ihaw has the potential to be as good with menu updates and effective scheduling of servers. And yes, we got prepackaged desserts, ube sweet rice cake(Biko), palitaw (pinoy sweet mochi) and cassava cake the coconut juice in can for drinks. So overall, this place is good and...
Read moreI would give this place zero stars if I could. I am extremely frustrated with this place. Most of the time I come here, I am disappointed. They have items on their menu that are displayed on a screen, and when you ask for something from the menu they do not have it. Then you’ll ask for something else and they won’t have it either. Then they’ll tell you to chose something else.
On many occasions I’ve experienced rude customer service from here. One time I called to see what they had, and they told me I had to come in and check—and it sounded like the lady was yellling at me.(Well, I’m calling to see if I want to go there in the first place—because most of the time they don’t have want you want). I told them I am calling to see if they had anything there I was interested in. Most places will tell you what they have. But not this place. They made me feel bad for asking a simple question. On other occasions I would call the store but no one would answer. Sometimes it will take at least 3-4 tries before someone will answer the phone.
This place and their employees need more than a couple lessons in customer service. The food is not consistent either. Sometimes something will taste great. Other times it’s terrible. Average food and terrible, terrible customer...
