JAM Cafe — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

The customer service that i recieved here was terrible. So i put my order in via doordash at 8:29pm. (FIRST CALL) 30 mins in i see that the restaurant had not confirmed my order so i called jam cafe for them to say it didnt come through on their end and to call doordash, kool. I called doordash to figure out whats going on they said everything was fine on my end AND the dasher was on their way to restaurant. Dasher gets to the restaurant to be told my order didnt come through. (SECOND CALL) Call doordash again and the representative calls the restaurant to try and rectifying the situation with Jam Cafe. Only for the representative to come back and tell me that Jam Cafe said they cant take my order because they are TOO BUSY...like what. Keep in mind by this point i had been waiting for my food for OVER AN HOURRRR!!! And the dasher was at jam cafe trying to pick up my food...so you mean to tell me everybody on one side is seen things go through but the reciever didnt. (THIRD CALL) called the restaurant again to try and figure out how are you "too busy" to take my order now because in the first and second phone call none of that was mentioned. The lady on the phone began getting an attitude...and as did i bc needless to im hangry at this point after working a 12 hr shift. What i cant understand is how doorsdash and the restaurant couldnt figure out this situation instead of saying you were too busy to take my order having doordash to cancel my order. first time eating there and I must say I won't be back.....MP's and Montego, here I come. I ordered the curry chicken lunch special for me, my mom and my daughter. We all wanted different sides:daughter wanted Mac n chesse with yellow rice; mom wanted rice and peas with collard greens and I wanted white rice and cabbage. The young lady is ringing up our order and walks away to play with a little baby, so I am waiting for her to put my order in and tell me my total so we can pay for it. So I'm looking around to see what's going on, she comes around the corner after going to the back with the baby and says the lunch special only comes with the sides steamed rice and cabbage. So I'm asking why didn't someone say that earlier and the cashier is like I didn't know and then I proceeded to say there is no sign up for the lunch special saying that, there was another young lady beside the cashier and told her to go to the back and ask the cook if they would make an exception, the cashier then proceeded to say he already said just the cabbage and steamed rice, my mom and daughter cancelled their order but I kept mine since those were the sides I wanted. I wish I would have cancelled my order as well....the rice was hard, there was hardly any sauce, and I had to add salt and pepper to my food, which I never have to do for Jamaican food....I will be sticking with MP's and montego, you can get any sides you want regardless of it's a lunch special or not and the...

A little Caribbean restaurant lounge and bar off of Holland road in Virginia Beach. The owner is very nice. I've been here before a few times in the past. Suggested he upgrade it and revise the menu because I wanted him to succeed. I thought it was a great local spot to just chill because we didn't have this in our area. I went back in January and The renovations look decent. White couch areas, a bar and a couple of seating areas. Went back last night and still minimal seatings for eating but that didn't bother us because they allowed us to eat where we wanted to. I would've given them 5 stars but at first when we walked in they had these bright lights on in the middle of the evening. It was a little off putting. They were under staff AS WELL so the lovely bar tender had to be a Bartender, waitress and DJ. I felt sorry for her but overall she did a great job!!! She was always smiling, attentive and kind. However Once the music got going it was on and poppin! The real DJ was fantastic and oh the food, amazing!! 5 stars on the food! Tasty, plentiful and the presentation one of the best I've ever seen coming from a Caribbean restaurant. Also, the drinks were worth the price 5 stars.
