I’d rate this overall at about 3.75 stars, based on my first experience with their take out pizza. The pizza was absolutely phenom in flavor, but the pricing was absolutely exorbitant on the wallet. $60 bones for a small meat lovers pizza and one large pepperoni/onion pizza. No drinks, no sides. It was $4 extra to add onion to one pizza, (no mention of pricing over the phone btw), which is absurd… think about that for a second. 4 bones for a handful of onion slivers. Wow. If there’s a next time, I’m packing slivers in my wallet, I don’t even care. I’ll stink up my pocket and your register’s future monies if that’s the case. y’all can explain to the puzzled patrons receiving change- if it gets to that point.
On a more serious note, our meat lovers had about 1/4 of the pie scarcely covered with any meat or cheese, (see that pic). It was like they ran outta toppings 3/4 of the way through, or perhaps the chef got an important text to attend to which sidetracked him/her/them/etc. So one of the slices was the equivalent of a simple slice of cheese, yet the cheese itself was a’lackin. It was primarily dough, sauce, and the mild hope of meat and cheese remnants mixed with the delightful aftertaste from previous slices.
For the remainder of the pizza, it was pepperoni and sausage only- no ham or ground beef was scattered about. So instead of it being a “meat lovers”, it was more like a “meat teasers” (hardy har har). However, the quality of the sausage and pepperoni was the best I’ve ever had on a pizza. Mad props on that!! Don’t ever stop using these ingredients, please :)
But for $60, y’all shoulda had the meat piled high equally on each slice , and a whole bag full of onions accompanying the 2 pies.
Would love to have more of either delicious and indistinguishable pie; albeit mismatched, unbalanced, hamburgerless, barely onioned…. but not at that price. Cost of living is high, Arlington rent is high…we get it but, wowwww. Too much guys, sorry.
Let’s do a two for Tuesday...
Read moreFirst time here, and I was so excited to try a new spot for pizza. Started with a wonderful espresso martini.
I mentioned I didn't want simple syrup, so it wasn't too sweet. Knowing I am not a fan of sweet, the bartender asked if I wanted Baileys because that is how they make their espresso martini, which I appreciated. I skipped the Baileys. However, a classic espresso martini does not include Baileys.
Started with the Pompeo salad. The description on the menu was romaine lettuce, baby arugula, spinach, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and eggs. I kept the eggs off and dressing on the side. When I got the salad it was only spinach. The tomatoes and cheese were beautiful. I had a couple bites but was disappointed that I didn't get a mixture of lettuce that was the description on the menu.
It took a while until anyone checked on how my food was. When they checked in, I mentioned to bartender the description of the salad on menu did not reflect what I got. There was no romaine or arugula just spinach? The solution was to bring me a bowl of romaine lettuce on the side to add to this spinach salad I had. I said no they should remake it. I thought if I wanted to make my own salad I would have stayed home. I canceled salad and left. A server apologized and said they are changing the menu next week so that is why the salad maker made it that way. I explained to server I wanted to try so much more like the pizza, side of fries or maybe desert, some wine, etc...but if you can't make a salad according to the menu description, I...

True, authentic, a real moment for the day’s end, this is the Italian food you remember from the neighborhood. Here in Arlington, there has never been found anything comparable! 🍕 🥗 🥖
From the octopus appetizer and a crisp abundance of “insalatas” to 1/2 price pastas (on Tuesdays) to 1/2 price pizza (on Wednesdays), your family meal will freshen your days like al fresco Tuscany!
Trying “A Modo Mio”, which my daily commutes had me already driving by several times a week. Meeting the man Antonio who runs the fancy like a Swiss watch? Graced us to a new delicacy heaven that had been ages in the making!
Luisa bouncing along the zinc — as we seated there at the bar — kept us rightly served and happy. Monday is 1/2 off for wine, and the selection of such along with fine alcohols and beer was unduly unexpected and beyond refreshing! 🍷
This is not the place to bring the kids’ soccer team after a game. That “place” is long past! Here, the nuance & vibe takes you to Napoli, Roma, Vicenze. With all at a low price point you will not find anywhere else inside the Beltway.
Just a final note: first time, order a pizza margherita. After ordering, wait 100 seconds. At 101? No fail, it’s on a classy platter set in front of you. Yes, that’s amore! 👌
Grazie, Fratelli!...
