Duck Donuts has expanded like crazy in this area! There's now one in Arlington, Fairfax, Herndon, Rockville, Gaithersburg, and one coming soon to Alexandria. As a fan of this donut haven that originated from the Outer Banks, I'm stoked. I have previously visited the Fairfax location, but yesterday was my first time at this Arlington branch.
Donuts are fresh and made to order at each Duck Donuts store. So if you're in a rush and think that it'll be similar to picking up a donut from Dunkin', you'll be mistaken. If you have the time though, it's well worth it. Order forms are available at the front, which you fill out and present to the cashier. You can purchase as little as one to as many as a bucket. I opted for a dozen and chose the following:
+Maple and bacon* +Vanilla, Oreo, and hot fudge drizzle* +Blueberry with powdered sugar* +Chocolate and chocolate sprinkles* +Chocolate and rainbow sprinkles* +Vanilla with rainbow sprinkles +Glazed with coconut +Glazed with bacon +Chocolate with peanuts +Powdered sugar and blueberry drizzle* +Glazed with chocolate +Blueberry
I would highly recommend any of the customer favorites (indicated with a * above). The maple and bacon was definitely a big hit with my coworkers. I also really like the blueberry ones. The donuts are super fresh, and you should preferably eat them as soon as you can to savor the freshness.
No indoor seating, but there are some outdoor tables for the warmer months. There's also coffee (both hot and iced), tea (both hot and iced), hot chocolate, and bottled beverages for sale. And if you're a rubber duck paraphernalia collector like yours truly, they have plenty of retail to purchase too.
Come for the decadence, they...
Read moreWe went to Duck Donuts Arlington for the first time and as soon as we walk in the place smell delicious, an very nice Asian Lady was at the cashier ( May be the owner or manager ) was so nice and helpful. We were going to try out 2 donuts but she was so sweet we bought 6 for only 2 of us😊, the man that was making the donut was so kind too! So we left him a tip too! It was love at first sight and we ate it right away. Feeling so happy. So this week we came back ordering 12 donuts to give some away to our neighbors, we meet Tommy and Jenna were working. They were so cute and sweet . they made us old people feel special with old fashion customer service . We live much closer to the King Street location but we feel loyal to the Arlington location since they gave us a 5 star service. The people working there are dedicated and take pride in the product, also show how much they enjoy their working with a smile when customer comes in. We are so glad we found this wonderful place, may be next time we buy even more now that we are hooked on it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ We promise you will...
Read moreThis is the Chipotle of donuts. They don't have any donuts pre-made. They have machines that churn out fresh plain donuts constantly and they put the toppings on to order. The donuts remind me of my grandmother's homemade donuts. They are slightly more golden brown than I'm used to. I don't know if this will describe it well, but the outside is just on the edge of having a crust/crispy. Insides are pillowy soft. The dark roast coffee is pretty good. They just have regular coffee, no expresso drinks.
Because it's new and made to order you may be waiting. I went 7:15 Saturday morning and waited 15 minutes for my order. They can get bogged down quick if there are big orders. Someone in front of me ordered 4 dozen and nothing came out for 5 minutes. By the time I left there were 25 people inside. I DO NOT recommend going early afternoon during week. I've driven by twice and there were 40+ kids hanging out after school.
4 stars become I expect it to be busy for some time to come. Donuts...
