Amazing burger place! So when you first walk in, it seems like any other type of "burger joint" until you look around. All the table tops have intricate designs made out of pieces of stone. PAC Man, MegaDeath and Bubblicious just to name a few. I found that to be pretty cool since most places will just have generic tables. The chairs reminded me of the kind I had in High School which really helped bring back the retro mood.
So I get to the counter area and see something called the "Greek". Most people will think about Gyro type burger but I am not most people. Being military previously stationed in Germany, I've always been on the lookout for anything that resembled a yufka or a doner. I've had some burgers that tried but none could really get it. Well I decided to try it here and let me tell you, wow! While it's not an exact match, it's as close as your going to get stateside.
I also noticed that they have beer on tap so I asked if I could try a sample. Next thing I know, the General Manager himself (Devin) comes out with samples of all their taps and gives me a detailed run down on each one! I mean, what business does this anymore? Most just want you to order and go away.
Overall, the food, customer service and overall experience of this place is well above standard. I'm truly impressed. Not only will I be going back but I recommend everyone at least...
Read moreI've been a burger fanatic for years. I love them, but I am a certified burger connoisseur, and I take my job seriously. So when I say that I am going to review a burger joint, I am going to do it right.
The burger joint I reviewed, I got to try some burgers that are normally not on the menu, but those burgers were nothing special. The biggest compliment I can give to the team at Burger Joint is that they know their customer base, and they know how to please those customers. A lot of the time when I go to a burger joint I'm only getting a burger, fries, and a drink, and I'm getting tired of it quickly. When I go to Burger Joint, I always get a combo with at least one side added on, and I typically get one of their specialty burgers – the Bacon Pierogi Burger, the Grilled Cheeseburger, the Smoked Chicken Sandwich, or the Hawaiian Burger.
The burger joint is a great place to sit down and get a plate of food to soak up the alcohol you might have had at the bar. The place is clean, inviting, and has a friendly staff. The food is pretty good, but the quality of the meat is hit and miss. The burgers are at their best when they are cooked medium rare, but otherwise they are only so-so. The fries and onion rings are best when they are hot and crisp, but they can get cold from sitting out too long. The side dishes are passable, but the mac and cheese is not their...
Read moreThe Wellington at BGR is one of the best burgers I've had. The onions, blue cheese, and mojo sauce pack a ridiculous amount of flavor, and go well with the burger itself which is no slouch. Toss this thing on some fine china and serve it to me in a tuxedo and I'd be dumb enough to give you $25 for it. It feels like a luxury item, despite just being another fast casual burger.
Their sweet potato fries also have no match, and believe me, I've looked. They were my first introduction to enjoying sweet potatoes, as 7 years ago I had all but written off the orange starch as an obligatory Thanksgiving table garnish, but now I look forward to their sweet potato fries as much as I do the burger. Their Coke machine with a million different options is also a nice touch, and gives you some interesting combos to work with.
For all this raving, I would still not put BGR's burger above Ray's, and the shake's quality and lack of booze bring the restaurant a notch below Zinburger, but it is certainly the cheapest way into high-end burger territory and is still worthy of 5 stars. The fact that this location is very easy to get to with lots of parking and a good amount of seating makes it a...
