Iām going to preface this review by stating that we know Indian cuisine. Weāve eaten in many Indian restaurants, all over the world to include London England last summer. London is world renowned for their Indian food scene and is widely considered the best Indian food outside of India. Interesting fact, Chicken Tikka Masala is a national dish of England and is wildly popular all over the city. Weāve also eaten at the other Indian restaurants right here in Winchester.
Weāve been wanting to try the new Everest Indian Restaurant for a while now, and finally got our opportunity last night. Weād been at Shenandoah University for one of my colleaguesā daughterās piano recital and got out a bit late. We hurried over to Everest and arrived at 8:30 PM. We noticed that they closed at 9 PM and felt a bit guilty that a group of 4 was rolling in 30 minutes before closing time. We opened the door and a gentleman greeted us. We asked if it was too late to be seated and he stated āof course notā. He sat us down, brought us menus and filled our water glasses. We looked at the menus and decided on our meals. We ordered the Paneer Pakora appetizer (homemade cottage cheese dipped in chick pea batter and deep fried, served with 2 different chutneys). My wife ordered the Lamb Vindaloo (hot and spicy boneless lamb cubes with potatoes in a tangy sauce), my oldest daughter (13) ordered the Butter Chicken (tandoori chicken pieces cooked with onions, tomatoes, butter and cream), my youngest daughter (11) ordered the Lamb Curry (tender lamb pieces cooked with spices and herbs) and I ordered the Lamb Do-Piaza (boneless lamb pieces sautĆ©ed in fresh onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, ginger and garlic in a curry sauce with a touch of cream). Most people think that Indian food is ultra-spicy. It can be, but at Everest, they will cook your order how you like it, from mild to super-hot and the server was sure to ask all of us how hot we wanted our meals. All of the dishes came with Basmati rice and we also ordered Naan (2 orders of plain Naan, 1 garlic Naan and 1 order of Paneer Kulcha which is Naan stuffed with homemade cottage cheese).
The appetizer came within 5 minutes. It was delicious and the 2 chutneys were wonderful. One was minty and the other I think was tamarind based, but Iām not sure. The entrees came 10-15 minutes later. To say they were flavorful is an understatement. Each dish was absolutely slam packed with flavorā¦like getting punched in the face, but in a good way! We each tasted each otherās dishes (except my daughters didnāt taste my wifeās because she ordered hers HOT)! Each dish seemed to be better than the last until we tasted the next one. All of the food was incredible and some of the best Indian cuisine weāve ever had.
Donāt be intimidated by something foreign or afraid to try something different. They offer a wide variety of food ranging from chicken, lamb, goat, seafood and vegetable dishes, sautĆ©ed, braised or from the Tandoor, so there is something on the menu for everyone. They offer a 10% discount on carry-out orders and deliver within 4 miles of the restaurant (unfortunately, we live 6 miles away). The only thing I wish would be different is if they served alcohol. Hopefully, one day theyāll get whatever license is needed in order to do so, but that wouldnāt prevent us from returning. Weāll definitely be back,...

Have now eaten here 3 times. Probably the best Indian food in Winchester at the moment, good selection, quantities good sized. Order different items each time to get a variety and have not been displeased at all. They will spice it according to your desired level, and the service is very good.
Not many people in the restaurant at 6:30pm on Sunday, however they were working on takeout orders so that may be the norm for a Sunday evening.
Cost is very reasonable for good Indian food, for two of us it came to around $72 total and included an appetizer, 3 main meal selections (shrimp, chicken, vegetable), Naan, and a large Indian beer (we shared all). There was plenty of food left over so we took it home and had a 2nd full meal the next night with the leftovers!
Only a few downsides we have found; one is the interior lighting has very bright white LED bulbs in most of the lights, kind of glaring. The other is while the chairs at tables are extremely comfortable, the booths are not, being straight up tall backs, which make sitting for a while uncomfortable. (Just ask for a tableā¦). Lastly, we have been here several times now, and on our last two visits there were āissuesā such as the AC was not working..in Augustā¦no thanks. The last issue was on two separate occasions when we ordered a beer, we were informed that out of the 7 varieties listed, they only had 2 . As this happened on two separate occasions, not a good sign.
Definitely recommend this restaurant, you will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently discovered this restaurant and I am so glad I did! True standout in terms of both quality and service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles from the staff. The dining room is immaculate and beautifully decorated. But what truly sets this restaurant apart is the food. I tried their Butter Chicken and I was blown away by the generous portions and delicious flavor. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and incredibly tender. The sauce was rich and savory, with just the right amount of spiciness, which you can get at 4 levels. My wife gets the Malai Kofta, which is consistently the best Malai Kofta she's ever had! The bullet naan is also one of our favorites, which we have only ever gotten here! We also really appreciate that they bring a nice, large, decorative pitcher of water for every meal, just 1 example of their immaculate attention to detail and thoughtfulness in serving their guests. I also appreciated that the prices were very reasonable, given the quality and portion size of the food.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a welcoming and clean environment. The fast and friendly service, combined with the delicious food and affordable prices, make it a no-brainer. It is always a treat for my wife and I to visit Everest! We are out of town and make this stop in...
