Pizza places are a dime a dozen in the DC area and, if we're being completely honest, Extreme Pizza doesn't do a whole lot to differentiate themselves from the rest of the market.
All they do is make good pizza, and that seems to work pretty well for them.
We came in around 6:30 on a Thursday night. The restaurant wasn't especially busy, probably 2-3 other groups sitting around eating, so we were able to walk up to the counter and order almost immediately.
We did a little math and figured it would be cheaper for us to buy a large pizza and share it with the group rather than get individual pizzas for everyone. We ended up getting a large, if I recall, which was supposed to feed 2-3 people. It cost us $17. That's a little pricey for a pizza, I thought, especially when you have the likes of Costco across the street where you can get a pizza for double the size for half the cost.
BUT, considering it was split a couple different ways, we ended up paying less than what we would have normally.
We ended up getting a basic half cheese, half pepperoni pizza, but they had plenty of interesting options on the menu. Definitely something to meet everyone's different tastes.
When we got the food, I'll admit it kind of looked like something you would get at Chuck E. Cheese's. It seemed kind of flat. But, let me tell you, it tasted wonderful.
The sauce and the toppings were fresh, the pizza was fresh out of the oven, the crust was soft but not doughy and, with a little parmesan cheese on the top, everything was absolutely phenomenal. I was pleasantly surprised.
The only reason I can't give this place 5-stars is for the price, obviously, but also the whole restaurant just felt a little dirty. I'm fairly certain a gnat or ant had burrowed its way into the parmesan cheese container and it came tumbling out onto my pizza right when I was about to eat it, which was kind of gross. Also, the plate the waiter gave me initially literally had a piece of old cheese glued onto it. Not exactly appetizing.
Other than that, this place was great. I'd...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible delivery service. Would give a 0 if I could . I have been a loyal customer here for a while despite experiencing significant difficulty with the delivery for close to a year now. Everytime the delivery person reached me he tells me that I should call the other extreme pizza store in Virginia square. While this is technically closer to me I am not in their delivery range.i am in the delivery range for Pentagon City. Despite the stress of having to have this awkward conversation I continued to order from there because the pizza is good. But the most recent time I ordered the food just did not arrive. I called when it was 15 minutes late and was informed the food was with the driver. 10 minutes later I get a call informing me that the food has not left the store and that I was given incorrect information. 90 minutes after placing my order I call to ask for a refund and the manager rudely says "if that's all you want I can do that for you" and didn't allow me to complete speaking. To add to the issue the store is now closed and the phone is not being picked up. They have just lost a loyal customer and I would recommend that no one orders from this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy first experience with this place was not pleasant. I went in due to all the advertisement about gluten-free pizza and the good reviews. I went in and the cashier said she had to check because they ran out yesterday. I said ok and "Alicia" said they were out and I asked her a few questions like is this normal, etc She told me I need to pick a better time to come in and then asked if I was giving her attitude. I said you are the manager and this is the best you can do with customer service is tell me to pick a better time to come in and you have the attitude. She told me " I don't know what else to tell you. We are out and you need to pick a better time to come in" I said when is that better time, she said "next week". Ok so you advertise gluten free pizza but you won't have any until next week. I asked her for her name and she laughed and said "Alicia" and I left. She was very confident with her poor customer service as the shift manager. Maybe she should be trained on how to interact with people and someone should be trained in inventory and...
