Good price if you like seafood. Lots of seafood and Sushi. They had crayfish, crab legs, fish. I am not a fan of raw snd steamed seafood but lots of people were enjoying. Hibachi was very very good! You could customize and pick what you wanted in the dish. American food was better then most buffets but could use some tweaking. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable and hardworking. Nice selection of desserts. Now for the areas of improvement: Please clean restrooms. They had trash overflowing and my toilet (first stall did not flush). The hand dryer was a nice touch and sink area was clean. Please have staff monitor children. We saw a lot of small white children running loose in the buffet. They were touching food with their hands, dropping food on the floor because they were unable to carry their plates. The kids had no clue but it is up to the parents to watch them who sat at the table while they ran through. As a teacher and auntie I would never let my kids do this and would help them move in the buffet and carry their plates. Most children were well behaved and had family with them explaining what to do. The children running loose just bugged me because there were signs saying to help your children. They wasted food as well which is bad for the environment. I would offer more vegetarian options. The hibachi could use more veggies like water chestnuts, little corns, bamboo shoots, mushrooms peas, carrots. I would expand the salad bar to include salad greens, cheese, dressing, croutons, boiled eggs, a few types of dressing, olives, seeds. I also think more fruit is needed. If possible a soft serve ice cream machine and a few toppings would be nice. Ice cream bars looked good.
I went on a Sunday at four so they were changing over meals and focusing on crab legs. Overall best buffet in Richmond area. The staff are great and loved the asian food and trying new things. If they ensure clean restrooms, expanded vegetarian and salad bar and that everyone is following the rules this would be a five star experience. I want to try them again in prime times, and in a few months so they can work on...
Read moreI’m not a big fan of Chinese buffets but this version has a great selection of sushi. Here is why they lost points with me. The hibachi cooks do not know how to cook. They think heating up the food and burning your meat or drowning the food in water helps it cook or steam or whatever their thought processes is. The grill is too hot and the cross contamination is enough to get you sick just watching them cook. I watched my raw chicken flipped over to burn on its other side as then used the same and rinse spatula touch the cooked beef next to it.
Some days I wish they would just let me get behind that grill. Nothing is chopped up, everything is over cooked. So I will stand there and instruct the cook on how it should be done. Mostly in sign language like gestures because the cook only speaks Spanish.
Food sticking to the grill should be a hint that you need to oil your grill prior to putting on the sauces.
Next they loose "major" points because for some reason they feel it necessary to drown everything in some type of salty sauce and let it soak and get soggy and saltier. 🤢
So avoid those options. Customer service has been great and drinks get refilled before you go dry. The ribs are good when they aren’t yesterday ribs and I would suggest mixing the chicken and broccoli and the hibachi grill with a variety of fresh vegetables, like zucchini, onions, and already sautéed mushrooms from the precooked area. then have the “cook” mix it with a “little” teriyaki sauce, garlic and hot peppers. I could eat that all day.
When you come here get creative with what is already cooked and blend it with things that make sense. Precooked Salmon and vegetables fried rice. Etc. just make sure if you have raw food give that to the cook first -- then go grab your precooked food and ask them to add it in. Voilà! 😬
Points Lost on: Bring me, my check before I ask for it. I don't like that. Please don't guess when I am done. It just comes off as if you are rushing me out of the restaurant.
I'm done. Still a 4...
Read moreThe food is decent and if you go for the lunch price is ok. The sushi is basic but decent. I have never tried the hibachi so no idea if it is good. The dessert table is worth skipping. The cakes are the driest cake I have ever had.
Their dinner price however is not worth it. They bring out crab legs and a few other things and the price hike is $7. If you have kids who don't care about crab legs, don't go for dinner. Unfortunately they only serve lunch M-F until 3:30. They used to serve lunch on Saturday but recently that changed.
The interior is nice and the decor looks nice. The slot machines at the front entrance are a bit weird.
One area that needs major improvement is the bathrooms. They are straight discussing. In the men's room the floor is always sticky, sinks are broken or leaking, soap dispensers don't work, and overall just needs a major cleaning. My wife says the women's room is the same. The part that concerns me the most about this is restrooms are a public space for patrons. If their restrooms are this bad, what does the kitchen look like where guests never go?
Like most Chinese buffets (and the 3 that were in this exact location prior to closing) they start out really well, look nice, and seem good. But for some reason basic maintenance and cleaning doesn't get done and eventually the place closes and then reopens later under a different name. Why not just take care of the place and have high standards so you're not forced to close? Based on the bathrooms, this place has about 2 years before they shut down and reopen under a different name.
I used to like this place but due to the declining standards I may have to skip it...
