I’ve never left a review before & it saddens me that this establishment, that I’ve patronized for years, will be the reason I leave one. Tonight (1/2/23) my mom & I ordered delivery. Upon opening up our naan it was burned. I know it’s cooked in a clay oven but it was past that. It tasted scorched & even looked black/burned. Both our meals were extremely salty, not spicy/seasoned but salty. We called & the owner answer which we told him our concerns. He was more than happy to refund the naan but was very upset when it came to the salty food comment. He stated he asked the cooks & they said they didn’t do anything different or add any extra seasoning. We’ve been eating there for years the same meals. It was extremely SALTY. He said the delivery guy was gone for the night & all he could offer us was 10 % off. We didn’t want a discount or a refund which we told him. We just wanted the meals we usually get to be edible. $63 meal & that’s all you offer. We’ve dined in many times, we would frequent the buffet weekly when they had it. His response was very disheartening & disappointing. We usually love the food & service but I don’t know what happened tonight. There are many other Indian restaurants in the area but we’ve stayed loyal to this one because of the taste & service. I don’t know if we’ll be able to do that anymore. I’m very disappointed & it’s sad after all these years coming to this place this is how we were treated. As a minority (black woman) my family & friends loved supporting this minority owned business. I was hoping to have them cater my party & wedding later this year this negative experience will not be forgotten.
*RESPONSE TO OWNER: I think it’s hilarious how you measure someone’s frustration by tone of voice. I hate that you were expecting an angry, screaming, cursing black woman but that’s not my mother whatsoever. She called & complained so clearly she was upset or else she wouldn’t have called lol. Had you presented a reasonable solution no review would have been left, so it was very “called for”. If you don’t like negative reviews don’t create a negative experience when a customer calls you to rectify a situation. It’s simple.
Nonetheless, I ordered my same meal today (01/20/23), without asking for the measly 10% off you offered towards the next order. And guess what? the food was NOT salty. The naan wasn’t burned either. Amazing right!?? So yes, your cooks made a mistake that day (01/02/23). It’s okay to be wrong, you’re answering phones not cooking nor are you tasting the food before it’s served. Listen to your customers. You hate bad reviews so much you’d rather respond like an arrogant jerk instead of listening. Customer service isn’t your forte. Marie’s smart mouth hasn’t been my cup of tea for years but I Still was a loyal patron of your business. Not anymore though. Anokha in short pump is much better for those reading this & wondering where else to go :) oh and for the love of god, please stop giving everyone the “we’ve been in business since 1995” nobody cares I promise. It’s embarrassing because after nearly 30 years you still can’t get the customer service portion right. Pathetic. It’s 2023 now times have changed & nobody is going to spend their money for bad service & even worse food when your cooks get too frisky with the seasonings. Nobody is going to continue to listen to your smart remarks either. Let’s see how much longer you last cause the power of the social media and reviews in this day & age go far. Keep it up and you’re gonna cancel your own business. It’s not 1995 anymore. Just something to think...
Read moreThere is NO way this place has this many 4 & 5 star ratings. These ratings are fraudulent & as fake as this Indian restaurant. Food tastes HORRIFIC. I should've known when we walked in it was completely empty, not 1 native in site & even the drink was flavorless...should've left after the 1st sip. To the owner or who ever is replying, your responses to the Real Truthful ratings are as nasty as the food you serve. Don't try that with me because I will come back here to share the rest of the unpleasant details from our visit. Every low rating comment regarding the food is Exactly what our experience was. It's beyond someone's personal preference, this is just not authentic food & you know it. Stop scamming people.
Response to owner: Just as I expected, another disgusting response to an unsatisfied customer who still PAID the tab. You're welcome for my feedback of your inauthentic Indian cuisine. You obviously don't value feedback from your guests, especially when it's HONEST because every honest review you reply with an unprofessional response. My rating is not vindictive, it's just matching the energy I've observed you give to the honest customer reviews in your responses to them & you weren't expecting a review the hard truth. Your supposedly raving fans nor you have no idea what authentic Indian food is supposed to be. That restaurant may have been there since 1995, but I'm sure the past owners did much better. In 1995 they probably weren't scamming customers, but in 2022 you are. There are no allegations, we have real life experience & if you don't like harsh Truth then do better. Obviously, you have tons of other customers who had the same bad experience we had which is why your responses are so defensive. Vedetta?? Lol please! There are way better things in life to do...we would never step foot back in that place. Only someone with a guilty conscience would feel threatened by an honest Google review. Use the funds I paid you & take a cooking class. Have...
Read moreTook my daughter to try Indian food for the 1st time, they used to have a buffet here, which I thought would be a good way to introduce her, but unfortunately they no longer offer the buffet. It was about 1230 on a Sunday and we were the only people inside, we were greeted by a very jovial Indian man who warmly sat us at our table. A few minutes later our server and brought us some menus and asked us for our drinks. After going over the menu with my daughter we ordered a vegetarian sampler, a mild Lamb Vindaloo for my daughter and a medium Goat Curry for myself. When the food first came you wouldn't have known we actually ordered two different dishes because they look exactly the same but you definitely could taste the difference in the medians. The serving size is a little deceiving because the bowl was actually fairly deep so you got a lot more then what you thought. As with Indian food it was very flavorful, both the lamb and goat were very tender and serve two different ways cut what are some pieces still having bone. We both enjoyed the sampler as well the only thing we didn't think it had really any taste to was the fried cheese. The Naan was fantastic! The place was very clean and tidy, there was a small bar and my daughter was very excited they had a disco ball. Service was fairly fast and the food didn't take very long either. It was nice, hot and fresh. Everything tasted really good. I definitely would come back and try...
