The cook stuck his finger in his mouth, appearing to try and get something out of his teeth, and then proceeded to put his hands (that he had not washed) on the pita bread that they were going to serve me.
It was my first time walking into this place. It looked pretty good and I was just looking for something quick to eat before an appointment. After a few minutes of waiting, I watched the guy, who was cooking the meat over the stove take his finger and start digging around his mouth. He then grabbed the a piece of pita bread and put it in the stove to heat it up. He did this all with out either washing his hands or putting gloves back on. After a few seconds of debating on whether or not I should call him out, I asked him whether or not he had washed his hands. He looked shocked that I had questioned him and gave me stuttered response of “of course”. I the. Asked him if he was going to put gloves on while he is handling move, ya know, for safe food handling and what ever, and he didn’t respond. The girl apologized and told him to put on gloves. Needless to say I walked out after telling them that I would definitely not be eating there.
I felt kinda bad for the people that were already sitting there enjoying their food, but if you are going to be handling food you should at least be wearing gloves. So for all of you that are reading this, beware. This was only one employee and I did not see anybody else doing it, but if these are their food safety practices, I would definitely not recommend...
Read moreWe just discovered Kabob House and now it is going to be our go-to for takeout. All of this food for $70? Unbelievable. The flavors are amazing.
With other Middle Eastern, Persian, and Afghani restaurants, frequently the chicken and lamb has some gristle, cartilage, or fat that is very unappetizing. Not here. All of these cuts were fantastic and very well prepared. The spices are incredible.
As I've been eating less meat, we got a lot of vegetables. The veggies were the best I've had from this type of takeout place. The spinach, okra, chickpeas, and lentils we're all first-rate. The kids even liked the veggies.
I can't recommend this place highly enough. Do them a favor and order through the phone and pick it up versus using one of the delivery services. The restaurant makes a lot more money when you buy directly from them.
Keeping this place going is a huge priority for Arlington...
Read moreI will spend my average of one rating per year on this restaurant. I have walked by this place a million times, but visited today on my rainy day lunch break since my office is right across the street. I have had a few gyro in my day, but none have taken me to flavortown quite like this one did. The tzatziki sauce was heavenly, the perfect flavor and texture, thank GOD I got extra. The gyro bread was warm and soft and the beef was 2 die 4. I also got a side of rice for my daily carb load and very quickly shoveled that in my mouth, don't stop flavoring that rice with whatever spices it is sprinkled with. This place might have changed me from a religious at home lunch maker to a kabob house regular. It was more than enough food and it was so spectacular I'll be thinking about this all day and telling all of...
