This review is based on our experience with whomever was the cook manager or owner the morning of 6/19. We have always enjoyed our time/meals here in the past but after this morning’s experience, we have decided we won’t be a returning customer. We sat down, ordered our meals via the QR code on the table, paid and included a 20% tip prior to even receiving our meals. Our meals come out, told where to find the utensils, no question if we received everything, employee quickly returns to the kitchen. We were missing one side item, no big deal, surely the lady couldn’t hold everything so we waited a while in hopes to connect with an employee that would clear any of the dirty tables - nope. No problem, went to the door where the kitchen is, mentioned the missing side item and another employee came out with the side within minutes. By this point, my wife who had ordered her eggs over medium had started in on them but noticed that the whites were not cooked and still runny so she took this opportunity while the side was being delivered to ask the employee if they could bring another set of eggs where the whites were fully cooked and even added, “if you cooked them over hard, that would be fine too, just no runny whites please”. A couple minutes later, he returns with a plate of two eggs hesitant to even serve them, clearly cooked for even less time! Before even placing them on the table, my wife again explains that the whites are not fully cooked and asked if they could just put the same set of eggs back on grill for another minute so they are cooked thoroughly. The employee understood, went back to the kitchen but within seconds, a different man (clearly with more authority) walks out with the very same untouched plate, sets it down on the table simultaneously says “your eggs over medium”. Then, just as quickly as he set the plate down, he immediately leaves with no time for us to even look at the plate, much less get his attention that the eggs were still jiggling around the plate. Now, almost done with our meals, decided to leave it be since the person with authority appeared annoyed at us and clearly didn’t care enough to bother asking us to clarify the issue. Neither of us could stomach the runny eggs so our dogs enjoyed them instead. We had expected a tiny bit more from a place where we’re asked to pay first, get our own utensils/napkins/condiments, and then tip (20%) prior to getting our food, with absolutely zero service after the plate touches the table. We expected a tiny bit better customer service and the handling of the situation by a manager/owner. To be very clear, we had no issues until our experience, or lack there of, with the person that plopped a plate of jiggling eggs on our table and turned...
Read moreLike others, I had a terrible experience with the service at Lazy Mike’s. It was my first and likely last time visiting.
We placed a Grubhub order on a Friday night for pick up. When we arrived, they couldn’t find our order so we went inside and I showed the order in the app. The man helping us was very impatient, asked if he could “see an email or something,” and then had us wait while he called Grubhub to send our order through. He did not have the kitchen start making the order until after he got off the phone, which was frustrating for an order of just 2 sandwiches. To clarify: I’m not upset that there was a mishap with an online ordering system, I’m upset that the employee helping wasn’t very patient or friendly.
As we waited, we chose to get ice cream and were tasting flavors. The girl helping us asked the other girl “how many can they try? As many as they want?” (in Spanish) right in front of us. It was offensive to be talked about as if we could not understand.
The sandwiches were good, fries just like McDonalds. However, the service was so disappointing it’s hard to want to spend my money here.
Edit: the snarky responses to reviews speak to the level of customer service provided here. I think being patient and kind goes a long way, which Lazy Mike’s missed...
Read moreEven though our relatives moved out of this area whenever we’re visiting DC we still stay in Falls Church & eat several meals at Lazy Mike’s. It’s a lot of fun to read the wall sign, enjoy the NY deli vibe & sort of NE Boardwalk feel too.
A great menu to please most dietary needs & special requests. The servers are grand (Eric & Jake) even on busy nights!
Selections; Chili topped with cheese & onions was nicely spiced. Mushroom & Swiss Burger thru the garden on a great roll. Delicious.
Asked for Xtra crispy fries-perfect. Veggie Melt had fresh delicious veggies-yummy. Pint old fashioned chocolate ice cream to-go. Next day, omelette stuffed with oodles of veggies, hot peppers & cheese. It was huge. Veggie sandwich with dill harvarti-so good more crispy fries. Of course, scoops of ice cream butter pecan that had a hint of maple syrup flavor ,and chocolate. Very generous portions at great prices.
Cash or credit cards. No reservations needed. Outdoor seating available.
The only flaw were the tired & dingy bathrooms. Could use better looking & more scrubbed up tile flooring.
Otherwise, definitely stop by Lazy Mike’s for a fun treat for...
