3.5 stars
SERVICE:
Very good and professional.
FOOD:
My opinion on the spanakopita is something I would not buy again. The taste and texture were weird, I couldn't finish it. I can't put my taste buds on it. It seemed more oily and maybe undercooked? The phyllo dough was crispy, but the inside was weird. Compared to other spanakopita I've tasted, this one comes in last place.
The Beef gyro (they made for me since I don't eat lamb) was delicious. That is something I would purchase again. Too much salad though, one or more bit of beef would make it perfect and fit the price.
BATHROOMS: Unisex bathrooms. Very clean. Just the extractor fan needs cleaning. But besides that, very clean.
EATING TABLES:
The two booths that were free had not been cleaned. So I sat in one that was not clean. But I didn't check the tables, so I can't comment on them.
PARKING:
Tons of parking.
BE AWARE:
As soon as I walked out, I was surprised by a man asking for money and two more sitting at the next store, who also stuck their hands out.
SUMMARY:
I will definitely go back to taste more of their menu. I see more stars for this place. It's a simple but nice place. Hopefully, next time, they give it that tiny bit more attention with the tables, and the spanakopita will taste better.

Read moreThis review is for their Chicago Gyro (lamb & beef), dolmas and their service.
Plaka Grill's Chicago Gyro is the best gyro I've ever had in the U.S. The blend of lamb and beef mixture is tender, flavorful and juicy without being greasy. The tzatziki sauce is fresh, bright and deliciously creamy.
The restaurant is clean and organized. The employees are friendly and helpful.
I've also tried Plaka's dolmas (stuffed grape leaves). Which I didn't care for very much. However, I only like vegetarian stuffed grape leaves and unfortunately Plaka makes theirs with meat.
They also serve wine and beer. Have a weekly Happy Hour (early 2-6 pm) and offer Half Off bottles of wine on Wednesday. I truly wish they'd open a location in DC.
Update: We've visited for the 7th or 8th time both eat-in and take out. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Service is quick and friendly. The employees are accommodating and thoughtful. Never any issues with take-out....
Read moreI enjoy this Place Grill location. I always go for the Chicago-style Gyro and it's all I have tried besides the fries. From the different places I have tried for Gyro in the area, and I have tried quite a few, I will say that this is the best place. If you also get the fries with it, I think it's a combo, they do give you a ton of fries so I pretty much don't get the fries anymore and just get some fries put into the gyro which is an option. I specifically really enjoy the fact that if you order online for pick up, you get a text message when it's ready and it's always accurate - what an awesome system to use. On the other hand, I do understand some of the comments referring to the lack of gyro meat in some gyros, and being filled with a lot of lettuce, etc. However, still better than every other gyro place I have tried in the area. Plenty of parking too.
Overall: good gyro, nice atmosphere, efficient technological system, and prompt...
