Before receiving menu waitress asked if we would like anything to drink. We ordered sangria. Ten minutes later we received the drinks. After tasting I asked waitressd if there was tequila in drink. She insisted there was not. We gave her our food order. I asked for water. Ten minutes later I asked another waitress for a glass of water. Thirty minutes later on the way to the restroom I asked cashier to check on our order. While I was up the waitress came by and asked friend if we wanted the bill. She Informed her we had not been served. (During the wait the table next to us was seated after us ordered, eaten and left before we were served). When food was finally served my order was wrong. Oh well. I had to get up and ask cashier for a spoon. After finishing meal I waited fifteen minutes for bill. Finally got up again and asked cashier. Looking at bill was charged nine dollars for Grand Margarita with sangria. I explained we only asked for sangria. I was told this was the only sangria served. I asked to speak to a manager. A woman came over and identified herself as a manager. I calmly and pleasantly spoke of how disappointed dinner and service was this evening. She asked me to wait. Twenty minutes later I got up paid a $47 dollar bill and left. She had forgotten about us. Two and a half hours of really bad service. I came home and called and asked for manager. Was told he would call me back. At 10:15 I called back and again asked for manager. Woman told me she thought he was gone. I asked her to check. She came back online and told me be was busy. I informed her that I would be calling corporate office if I was not able to speak with manager. He immediately came on. Turns out the woman I spoke to was not the manager. When I explained the multitude of problems he said yes there was tequila in the sangria and he was sorry for all the problems but they were busy because he had sent one of the cooks home. So much for my experience at this place. I will never eat...
Read moreFirst of all, it takes a LOT for me to write a review as I do not do it often. But when I experience exceptional food or service (at either end of the spectrum), I feel compelled to share. Let me preface with Toltecos is close to my house, so it's definitely a place of convenience. The prices are great and with me being a vegetarian, I often order the potato and cheese chimichanga, which is amazing! I will even go as far as saying other area Mexican restaurants do not feature that spin on chimichangas, which is why I find myself at Tolrecos time and time again! The ambiance is cultured and lively with a nice bar area which is separated from the restaurant. Several times I have visited, there are Mariachi bands or Spanish cultural dancers which is an added bonus, if you are into that sort of thing -- it certainly adds to the upbeat atmosphere. BUT....the queso is ALWAYS cold. I do not understand why, on every single visit, I am always faced with cold cheese, either on my chips or on my potato and cheese enchiladas. Every single time, my entire party makes a point of asking the wait staff in advance to PLEASE not bring us cold cheese to our table and lo and behold, they do. Every. Single. Time. Without fail!!! I visit the restaurant 2-3 times a month and sadly, my friends that I recruit experience the same sad cold cheese. We are perplexed. Aside from that, everything is great, but let's face it, queso is a part of every dish, so it's hard to not experience the cold temperature of the cheese. I am tired of sending the cheese back constantly. My entire party is tired of sending the cheese back! It is as if they have a large pot of cold cheese sitting on a stove that they throw on hot food. I would love to write a better review if they could address this nagging issue. Get it...
Read moreAwful!! So I placed an order for a vegetarian combo, cheese and potato enchilada and chimichanga with double rice. I ordered online and AFTER I ordered at lunch time, it said an hour. I work from home, I was thinking 20 mins like everywhere else. I have a certain break time. They took my money before providing this detail, of course. Most reputable places let you know first!! I called and said I don't have an hour. The phone was then passed to a guy who said ok really quick. I got there 40 minutes later, and there was no staff around. There were 3 parties in the restaurant, all done, and 1 other to go order. And you needed an hour! In the back, it looked and sounded like a club, and the staff were SUPER loud and rowdy. This woman comes out laughing and stumbling a few minutes later. I'm sure she was drunk, WITH COVID SYMPTOMS!! She went to the back to "check" my order, and they were having a party again. All 3 tables waved frantically, and she walked to the back, and ignored them. After about 10 minutes, she brings me my food and I leave. The food was AWFUL. No sauce, and dry tortillas, with what tasted like instant mashed potatoes with a little Velveeta or processed American cheese, barf. The rice was gross, and had an odd flavor. I did not eat any of it after 2 bites. It is definitely suited for the trash. Never again! Probably the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to in life. The Taco Bell Potato Griller is WAY better. I wasted $20 on pure trash. And BTW the salsa tasted canned. I am Hispanic, and this is pure garbage, food and service. Literally, go anywhere else. I definitely will, while you can return to...
