I like Mezeh. But today’s visit at the American Airlines terminal in DCA the DC airport was unacceptable. I went for a vegan bowl. Once I got my rice, bulgar, arugula & toppings, I paid and sat at an airport kiosk to eat. After 2 forkfuls, I realized I’d forgotten to get falafels. I went right back to ask for them. The woman behind the counter said “$5, you get 4 falafels, you’ll have to pay $5.” In disbelief that I’d be asked to pay $5 additional, I inquired what & why?? She said, “You have a vegetarian bowl; adding falafels is $5.” Head scratcher, right? FALAFELS ARE NOT ONLY VEGETARIAN; THEY’RE VEGAN! If my bowl is vegetarian, falafels should come with it at no extra charge, right? Or at least that’s how it seems. I asked the server how much extra for chicken; she said “same price,” and then rudely said, “May I help you?” to the customer behind me and started serving them as I stood there.
I’d easily give this place 5 stars for their food. I love the one near my house. I’ve been up since 4am to catch a 6am flight, landed at 7:45, used the airport as my work place to teach a high school class at 8:30, leadership team mtg at 9:30, followed by other strategizing work to all the way until after 12. Making it off a fruit cup from the SC airport. I was excited to get my falafel bowl! I went there at 12:31 (time on receipt) Mon, Feb. 6, to narrow down the rude server.
If a Mezah manager confirms that my bowl should have not cost $12.65 but indeed been $5 extra (when falafels are indeed vegetarian), then I will stand corrected. Doesn’t excuse the rude service though. Until then, I believe I was being duped into being overcharged, and that is simply not okay. Do...
Read moreHad a long layover on American Airlines and ran into this place. It’s located in Terminal 2, by gate E50. I saw everyone around me in the terminal had a fresh looking bowl which looked like it could’ve been Qdoba or something. Everything is so fresh and is setup as a build your own wrap, bowl or pita. I (and everyone in front and behind me in line) received a large portion. I decided to go with the mixed greens veggie bowl which came with Falafels, rice, lettuce and a mix of toppings. The falafel was delicious, however, the rice was alittle hard for me. They also ran out of hummus :( Pricing was decent around $12.00. I wasn’t able to finish it all and took the rest on my flight. The service could’ve been better. The lady who helped me didn’t have bad customer service, she was just kind of blah. I asked for recommendations and she could’ve really give me any. First day maybe?? If you’re ever in terminal 2 flying AA, definitely...
Read moreThe website says it opens at 6 AM. The signage at the restaurant says it opens at 6 AM. Yet when I tried to order at 6 AM, I was told it opened at 6:30 AM. I commented that the signage needs to be corrected as it is wrong. All the employees ignored me except for the male employee who informed once again that they open at 6:30 AM. I repeated that may be so but your sign says 6 AM. He told me basically in a very rude manner that he didn’t care what the sign says and if I don’t like it I need to talk to management. I told him that was an ignorant response when what I was anticipating was merely an acknowledgment that the sign was wrong and needed to be adjusted. He continued to be rude and reiterated his indifference and that I needed to talk to management. Absolutely the worst...
