I recently visited Southern Style Chicken and Waffle in Woodbridge, VA, and while the food had potential, I was left underwhelmed by both the pricing and portion sizes.
First, the tasteāwhile the chicken had a nice crispy exterior and decent seasoning, it wasnāt anything out of the ordinary. The waffles, however, were a bit bland and lacked the fluffiness I had hoped for. For a Southern-style restaurant, I expected more attention to the balance between the chicken and waffles, but it just didnāt deliver.
Now, the real disappointment came when I looked at the bill. For what I received, the price was pretty steep. The portion sizes were smaller than expected, especially considering the cost. I felt like I was paying for more hype than actual value. When dining at a place that emphasizes Southern comfort food, you expect hearty portions that match the price, but here it felt like I was paying premium prices for what amounted to an average meal.
While the ambiance and service were decent, the overall experience didn't justify the high cost. Unfortunately, I wonāt be returning unless they make some significant changes to the quality and pricing. Southern-style food is meant to be filling and flavorfulāthis place missed the...

I come here for one reason and one reason only: chicken wings. These guys do chicken wings right. The wings are plump and juicy - never undersized. The price is exceptional, too. So you get more wings for less money than pretty much everywhere else in Woodbridge... and I've looked all over. They have something like 20 sauces too, so if you want options, you have options. You gotta understand, I love chicken wings. It's my go-to feel-good food and I've finally found a place that does them really, really well.
The people there too, are good people. I worked in customer service for years and years and I know how hard it can be behind the counter. The Friday night crew is spot on, friendly, and the food comes out in just the amount of time you'd expect it to.
And while it's not really a con, this is definitely a take-out place. And you know what, that's perfectly fine too. You don't come here for the atmosphere, you come here to grab your delicious food, go home, and binge-watch Netflix. I don't even consider this a con, but, I like to be objective.
Note: I wrote the same review on Yelp. I never really do two reviews like this but these guys...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was finally able to find a wing place with sweet teriyaki (not salty like in Asian cuisine/restaurants) similar to that of one of my favorite spots back home in Georgia.
The wings are good and sizable but they took away the convenience of being able to order directly from their website and using the 20% coupon that they offered. It still shows up as an offer, but when you try to add your payment method, you just get a blank screen.
I called and asked to place the order over the phone and the guy said he would not honor the discount on THEIR website. The front counter men are usually cool and not usually rude, but I feel like thatās bad professionalism for a small business. He also called me a sir and Iām a womanā¦
Also of note, Iāve been ordering here for months and they have tater tots on the website but they wonāt make them for you because theyāre ābackorderedā. Thatās not a problem itself, but how are tater tots unavailable but the French fries arenāt? And similar to the 20% off deal, they refuse to take them off the website.
Just super, super weird and shady behavior. I hate it because now I have to try to find a new wing place and the restaurants in Woodbridge suck and...
