It was my turn to pick where "girls lunch" would be this month. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for several months so of course it was my first thought. I was hesitant though, because I had recently tried a Korean restaurant closer to my home that also had great reviews and was very disappointed. That food, like many other similar places, tasted like nothing but oil. Everything tasted the same....oil, oil, oil.
I threw the idea out to the girls anyway, sent them the menu and got the thumbs up. On the way to lunch we talked about other Korean restaurants we tried in the area, how I was disappointed in the one I tried and how one friend tried a place in Manassas and thought it was good. Let me tell you, she changed her tune with her first bite. All that could be heard from our table were loud MMMMM's, You need to try this and OMG's! We could not stop talking about how good the food was, how flavorful it was and how surprising it was to actually find a place that tasted authentic and FRESH. I was the champion of the day for choosing this establishment. Go me!
The fried rice was even great reheated. I didn't have to add water because it was dry. The flavor was still there. The to-go order still tasted great (according to my husband) and the leftovers for that meal also reheated well and maintained its flavor.
I don't normally take screenshots of my food but I wanted to show my husband what we tried so I included it here for effect.
I really wanted to keep this place as my secret little gem but the food is so good, the staff is great and they deserve a shout out so,
SHOUT OUT TO SU AND THE CREW! We'll...
Read moreSome of the best Korean food I’ve had has come from Dosirok. I consider it a hidden gem, although it’s not a huge secret. The chicken katsu (KFC) and the Mandu Guk (Dumpling soup) are my favorites! Their chicken wings are also delicious and sizeable. I feel the food is absolutely worth its price. The staff/service is always good and the folks are kind always. I have never gotten a bad vibe there or felt out of place or not welcome. They also have a little station with cutlery, napkins, and more that is easy to access and of course free of charge. If I could change anything, I would just wave a wand to make it bigger, meaning more seating like a real restaurant because they are so amazing that I would love to see more and more people sitting down to eat there. There are seats, but there aren’t a ton since they are located within an international grocery store called, Fresh World. I usually get to-go, but I have eaten in once and it is a different experience that I would recommend as the food I ordered (the dumpling soup) comes in a large, metal bowl and it is presented differently than if I got it to-go (it wouldn’t be in the same bowl, etc.). I had a great time eating while sitting there, but again, I would love if they had their own space because the hustle & bustle of a grocery store can be a bit hectic and less peaceful. However, with all that being said, I love this place and hope everyone who goes here has a great experience just like I have had. Also their miso soup is off the charts. Please try it out! Read moreDosirock Korean Fusion Cafe is conveniently located inside of a fresh world super market.
My take: great tasting food well portioned fair priced recommend enjoying inside but takeaway/ to go option is conveniently provided for those in a rush.
My favorite menu items:
I usually get the #21 Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimap and the #1 Fried dumplings.
The Clay pot heat sears the rice to the bottom of the bowl so much so that it creates slightly crispy fried rice crust that when drenched in over medium egg and gochujang pairs so well with the julienned fresh and pickled veggies (carrot, cucumber, bean sprouts, green onions). A miso flavored soup and side of kimchi is also provided. Free tea and water also provided to patrons.
Great food, great service, ample seating to enjoy an imaginative and exciting meal conveniently located inside of a diverse...
