I live in Culpeper. Work in Fairfax. And when my mother law visits here family in Oregon and I pick her up at Dulles I always look forward to coming early and hanging out here for 2-3 hours before her flight. So now I’m gonna give my review and I’m gonna scrutinize. As far as food goes, taste and presentation; this place is worthy to be called fine dining. It is that good. The Seared Ahi Tuna Sashimi is excellent. The strawberries and warm goat cheese salad is delicious. The flat bread dishes out of the fire grill are also excellent. I have not had anything that I did not think was very good to excellent. Good wine choices. Full bar, so checks all the boxes on food and drink. The bar design itself is great. Large and wraps all the way around. And it’s a shorter bar, not like a pub where dudes are hanging out for 8 hours all day drinking. It’s more inviting, more like a seat at the table , which in this case is a wrap around bar probably 30-40 one way and 20 feet the other. Great atmosphere Servers have always been very good; attentive, courteous, and the right amount of friendly.
Now my criticism: A gentleman below mentioned this. One small bathroom is not sufficient for a place this size. It’s always clean but it’s not enough. My biggest critique is this. I have been here several times and on my last visit this past Wednesday, the manager whom I engaged with my eyes several time never once said a word. In my experience, good managers are those who walk the restaurant and check with their guests and make sure all is well. I am not the least bit offended, I am simply giving you my critique. You need to be more social with your patrons and speak to them. Let them know you care about their satisfaction. If your shy and not that guy, you may be in the wrong business. Let me finish and reiterate by saying, that this is one of my favorite restaurants, and the food is that good. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of what I feel like is a subpar interaction on behalf of the manager. And I don’t wish to make you feel bad; but this is the business your in, you’ve got to engage your patrons. It’s part of the upscale restaurant world. I consider this place upscale based on the quality of food. I spend $100 + every time I come. That’s...
Read moreDuring our recent dining experience, we encountered a few disappointments at the restaurant. One of the waiters displayed an unusual behavior, continuously staring at me without providing any explanation or engaging in conversation. This left me feeling perplexed and unsure of the reason behind their actions.
Unfortunately, the steaks we ordered from the menu did not meet our expectations. Both my friend and I opted for different steak options, but regrettably, they turned out to be some of the worst steaks we have ever tasted. The quality and flavor were far below what we anticipated, leading to a less than satisfying dining experience.
On a more positive note, our assigned waiter proved to be a friendly and attentive individual. They promptly attended to our drink orders and ensured that our food was served in a timely manner. Their professionalism and dedication to providing good service were commendable, contributing to a more pleasant aspect of our overall dining experience.
While the waiter's attentiveness and prompt service were appreciated, the unsatisfactory quality of the steaks overshadowed these positive aspects. The lackluster taste and poor execution of the dishes significantly impacted our enjoyment of the meal.
In summary, the dining experience at this restaurant had its ups and downs. While our waiter was friendly and attentive, the constant staring from another waiter created an uncomfortable atmosphere. Furthermore, the quality of the steaks was far below par, which left us disappointed. Improvements in these areas would greatly enhance the overall dining experience and encourage guests to return...
Read moreMade reservations to celebrate my son’s friend’s birthday, and was greeted by the friendly host Andrew. Initially I made reservations to sit inside, but decided to sit outside instead as the weather was fairly nice and there were heating lamps in case it got cold. Our host had no problem with us sitting outside, brought our menus and utensils while we waited for our server. We were pretty indecisive on what to get so we got the beef sliders as an appetizer. We each tried one and it was juicy and delicious! We finally decided on what to eat and I got the Salmon entree, my son ordered the chicken fajita tacos and his friend ordered the Cuban sandwich. All were quite good, and although it did take a bit long to get our food, we quickly devoured it and loved every bite. My recommendation would be to serve 4 tacos, a bigger Cuban sandwich, and an additional side with my Salmon entree aside from asparagus (maybe mashed potatoes?). The price didn’t match the portions served in my opinion, but despite it all we had a good time and even ordered the Hershey chocolate cake that our host Andrew recommended. Although delicious, it was $12 for a slice. All in all, very positive experience, staff is very friendly and we had a great time. We’ll...
