Being new to the area I wanted something close so I decided to try Tippy's. I'll admit my expectations were standard as one might expect for a fast food type Mexican style restaurant. First impressions, the shopping plaza is neat and well organized. All the businesses are easy to spot by their signage, etc. Tippy's appeared to be well lit and clean. It was very busy on my visit, and since I was on a lunch break, I did worry a little. It was never a problem. The line of people in front of me moved quickly and after I had ordered I had enough time to check my mail and clear my notifications and it was ready. I ordered the Taco Kit and a side of guacamole. The tacos were great. The meat was still hot by the time I got home and well seasoned but not greasy. The beans had a nice flavor and were still steaming when I opened the container. The picante was spicy with a hint of sweetness, a little too much tomato sauce from the can base for me though. The lettuce and cheese were shredded just right for a good taco build. My only complaints were that there could have been more tomatoes, the picante was nothing special, and for an excellent taco I personally need sour cream. Those were my only complaints though. The guacamole is a little under seasoned. It could use a touch more lime, salt, cilantro, and some good red pepper to pick up the flavor. However, the consistency was nearly perfect. The tortilla rounds they provide with the guac were fried to perfection but lacked a light touch of salt. The tacos will definitely bring me in again to try something new. If you are hungry for a taco or burrito and want something much better than Taco Bell then Tippy's will not disappoint. Definitely worth the 4 stars and with some small changes this could easily be a 5 star review. ...
Read moreIn trying to do my part in social distancing, and trying to be supportive to the small businesses, I placed a dinner order at Tippys. The online menu left some questions and I called the restaurant, only to not only have my questions unanswered but to realize that the restaurant didn't care about its customers. Millions are out of work, some unemployed permanently for their places of employment were shut down for good. Money is tight for basic needs let alone for a food order, yet on TV it says we should do our part in helping small businesses. But, have the businesses done their part in helping their communities? Maybe some, but not in this case. Not only were the prices raised, but no discounts were offered for seniors (which we are), or online promo codes, etc. Then to top it off, was rudely told that they wouldn't offer any either. Here's the best part, we ended up spending $63.00 for the meal for 2, misc. charges which couldn't be explained, delivery charges for for the order which was left outside our door and no notification of it being delivered. No knock, call, or anything. We found it 1 1/2 later when we opened the door to take the trash out. I'm all for trying to help, do my part, etc, but I felt like I was taken advantage of not only in the amount paid, but being treated like they were doing me a favor by ordering their food. And to be fair,we checked the items, prices, etc prior to placing the order. That's why i called. Lesson learned- its costly to...
Read moreTippy’s is ok. I enjoyed the taco salad a lot , Ive always loved my taco salads with ground beef. It’s a pretty decent size too and the edible bowl is good and crunchy, has a nice fried taste to it. The taco meat was also plenty & seasoned well, but beans didn’t have much flavor not bad but not wow either
They didn’t skimp on the chicken in my hard chicken taco, but the chicken did lack a bit of flavor and was a bit salty. it arrived whole and didn’t fall apart nor was it soggy. The veggies were fresh & crisp too. Once I added some of my own favorite mango hot sauce to it, it was even better.
The California burrito wasn’t my favorite, the sauce wasn’t for me, and rice just was salty and beans and meat were the same as in the taco salad. Im also not a fan of their, what seems to be store bought Guac!
Since they only use ground beef or chicken here I’m guessing most to all things will be pretty similar. As others have said, it’s far from authentic Mex food. Think of it as Taco Bell’s older sibling.
Would I get it again, yes! Definitely as quick fast eats, also Their very reasonable priced. The taste in comparison to other fast food places, including quality and price range makes Tippy’s worth a visit. 2.5...
