For anyone with a love for retro technology and video games, Press Start Tech & Games is a rare gem in our modern world that you should absolutely experience. It's one of few places still around that instantly transport you back to the 80's and 90's the second you step foot inside. The cases and shelves full of immaculate video game cartridges, discs, and hardware, sometimes even including the original packaging, really do captivate your inner child. Add to that the subtle remixes of retro game music in the background, and it's easy to lose yourself to nostalgia in the best way.
Even beyond the charming atmosphere, everything about Press Start is excellent! The staff is exceedingly patient, friendly, and willing to help with any questions, and it's clear that they love the tech just as much as their customers do. It would be one thing to find old games or systems and simply resell them as is, but this store actually cares about cleaning, testing, and handling their products with care to the best of their ability. I have never had any issues with anything I've purchased here, and I firmly believe they would assist me if I ever did. They even offer extremely competitive prices with what you would find online with the added bonus that you can be certain you're getting an authentic product.
Given the lengths to which Press Start has gone to create such a wonderfully nostalgic store for retro games of all brands and systems, it's overwhelmingly obvious the love they have for all things retro. Everything from the care put into their products to their welcoming staff and well-organized store really make for a fantastic experience. I genuinely recommend visiting this store to everyone with even a remote interest in video games or retro tech.
To the owners and employees of the store, thank you for giving all of us who grew up with these games a way to relive our childhoods. You've made me a loyal customer, and I wish you the very best with your business! I'll certainly be...
Read moreRead everything please! Brought in a binder worth around $740 and left it overnight. They gave me an offer of about 25% and have their cards listed 25% over retail pricing. On top of that they took all my cards out of my binder and also out of my sleeves and then gave me my cards back all unsleeved and the sleeves separate. They said "we didn't want to waste our time re-sleeving your cards because you didn't take our offer." Bad customer service and no care for cards or customers.
Replying to the owners reply to my review: Me replying to your offer by saying "Extremely low ball offer" is not being rude. That is me responding to your "low ball" offer of 25% of my binder cost just to list your products at 25% over retail is not fair. (I looked at multiple of your cards listed) Any owner or customer going to any card shop would expect of giving sleeved cards to review would get their cards back in sleeves, regardless of what the offer or reply is. If a card is in a sleeve it's in that sleeve for a reason. Would you feel the same if you went to a card shop with $740 worth of cards that are all sleeved and come back to a pile of unsleeved cards? Putting a pile of unsleeved cards on the counter for a customer to re-sleeve their own cards after I stated "I have multiple cards in this pile that are grading quality and that i want taken care of" and getting a pile of cards dropped on the table all unsleeved, scratching and ruining their quality. All because I said that your offer was low you company gets butt hurt because i declined your offer, and decides not to re-sleeve cards a customer brought to you sleeved and told to be careful...
Read moreKnowledgeable guys who also enjoy games. Store is clean and organized, prices are fair, everything is checked for quality (for example, they replace all gba game batteries), they are active online if you like being notified quickly, and I've been here at least a dozen times with no issues.
The only thing that was ever a bummer for me, was heading down in person and finding out something sold online first. I'm a bit old school and I like the in-person experience. They are running a business optimally, so I don't fault them. I'm just behind the times.
I wish their selection of older PlayStation material was a bit more expansive, but not a fault of theirs. Probably the best retro shop in town, all...
