This place is by far, the worst. I never ever had to write a review but looks like today is the day that I start. I ordered fried shrimp and rice a couple of times from here and never had a problem until today. If you look in their brochure menu on their website, it's 4 pieces of fried shrimp with fried rice. The food finally came and opened it up and saw my wife's food but not mine. I called back immediately and told them that I didn't get my food and I was thinking to myself they probably think that I'm lying, but I honestly told them I did not get my food. The cook says he packed in and I asked is it in the drivers car still? they had no idea. So the owner is like I'll make another order and get it to you. I wait and finally get it, but this time I checked it while the driver was at my door, all I got was just my fried shrimp. I called back and told the owner or cook or whoever it is, "I got my order but where is my fried rice" and he said it doesn't come with it, I'm like what? The one in your picture is what I order and he said No" So here I am actually writing this and starving with 4 pieces of fried shrimp next to my left arm. Thank you Young Chow Cafe for rejecting me your...
Read moreI'm not a Chinese food snob and although walking in the door I had a hope for good, inexpensive Chinese, my hopes were dashed. Let me start by saying that the welcome, ordering at the counter, and speed of service were all admirable. We were five for dinner and ordered two soups, two egg rolls, an order of spareribs, half a roast duck, beef broccoli, orange chicken, and pork fried rice. The two soups were as expected for wonton and egg drop, and the wonton had significant depth of flavor. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. The egg rolls, although with a promising filling, were greasy. The ribs, too much fat and an off flavor. The three main courses were smothered in different varieties corn starch thickened sauces. Even if the underlying ingredients had been able to speak for themselves, they had no chance. The pork fried rice was a 3.5 out of 5 and the best thing after the wonton soup. Sorry for the sad news as a good Chinese meal prepared quickly is a real treat. Unfortunately Young Chow seems more like Old Chow to me. The need a breath of fresh east wind in...
Read moreThis used to be the best chinese place in all of prince William county, I would come in here while my kids were at swim next door. We moved away several months ago and I was back in Centreville for an appointment so stopped in.
When I noticed the normal woman wasn't there and the décor was vastly different I asked if the place had been sold and had new owners. The boy working the front flat up told me no. So I ordered my normal which was a LOT more expensive then it ever used to be.
I will say the food quality plummeted. The pan fried dumplings are mid at best now and used to be the best part of my order. The beef and broccoli managed to taste old, the meat which used to be flavorful and soft was now dry, tough and greatly lacking in flavor.
It's sad to see what they did to this once great restaurant.. guess i'm gonna have to find...
