TL:DR - Teriyaki Chicken does not include Teriyaki sauce and you will be charged extra for it.
I never thought I would be writing a negative review for one of my favorite dine-in spots but life loves to add irony and humor whenever it wants. On November 20th, I ordered 2 Teriyaki Chickens with no veggies and added mozzarella cheese for takeout since I work 12 hour night shifts and like having a 2nd meal to eat before heading home. For some background, when Harumama first opened their Carlsbad location there were add-on options to all their menu items and mozzarella cheese was one of those various options that I happened to stumble upon as my go to topping.
When I received my order, I noticed that there was no Teriyaki sauce on both orders of the chicken and there was no cups of teriyaki sauce (I usually see the cup if they don't have time to put it on the chicken during rush hours). I asked the front staff if I could get teriyaki sauce with my orders and told them there wasn't any on the chicken. This is what they responded with: "The Teriyaki Chicken does not come with sauce. I will have to charge you for the sauce on the side."
Teriyaki Chicken... Teriyaki Chicken does not include teriyaki sauce. You heard it here folks! TERIYAKI CHICKEN, extreme emphasis on the TERIYAKI, does not come with a teriyaki sauce. I truly think that they should re-name the menu item from Teriyaki Chicken to Grilled Chicken with rice if they were never going to include teriyaki sauce on TERIYAKI CHICKEN. I was baffled and just outright frustrated that the staff member could not use deductive reasoning to figure out why it is called Teriyaki Chicken in the first place.
I hope that regular enjoyers of Harumama and new-time connoisseurs read this review and gain insight that their server may not have common sense or understand what their order comes with.
For the staff members that read this, I genuinely hope that the American Education System has not failed you and that logical reasoning is not a...
ย ย ย Read moreTerrible place honestly I promised myself I wasnโt gonna leave a a Bible review, but all I could say is from my experience of coming here felt very unwelcoming very unprofessional and not only that very rude people in there this was our first time me and my wife after a long week of being busy deciding to come on a date And we ask the waiter thatโs wearing glasses it was a dude donโt know his name I forgot honestly I got so upset but if you guys do decide to come here be aware because we ask them if we wanted to order something since itโs our first time and if we donโt like it can we go ahead and order something different and give the order Back Two of them told us no thatโs not allowed here never heard of that in my life seems very sketchy and scam esh like theyโre hungry for money not only that there was a skinny Mexican Latina that worked there that was a waiter and she told my wife deliberately itโs not recommended because they wonโt be able to resell it because itโs closing time like wym Maโam, is it frozen food? You have to go on the back there and sell it just didnโt seem all natural as far as their food. It was like walking in there and they thought they were working out of Michelin stars very exclusive Ramen, where all the people across the world of US come here!!! So if the owner is looking at this, I hope you have better people you could hire and you guys should be more considerate when it comes to your consumers if they even decide to come and eat to your restaurant, I do not apologize for leaving this review If anything, you guys deserve it iโm leaving this review only because I wanna worn the people about your guysโs business and fake Michelin...
ย ย ย Read moreCame here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. When we arrived (on a Sunday) around 6pm, we were told there would be an hour wait. We really wanted to try out this location so we agreed. About thirty minutes later we were messaged that our table was ready.
We weren't hungry enough for ramen, so we opted to get a few buns and try out the Bulgogi Fries along with some edamame. For drinks, we got a glass of cabernet and I tried the J Pop Lychee cocktail in a can. It was really good!
The Bulgogi Fries were the star of the show. We loved it and devoured every bite. The sizzling plate is a nice touch and guaranteed to arrive HOT.
We ordered some character buns but also go the pork belly and spam bao buns. I think I preferred those over the character buns only because the meat was more pronounced. In the character buns, it's sort of a paste that they put inside so the flavor is very muddles. They are very cute though!
Total was about $85 before tip.
Service was good. The restaurant is very small and it was quite busy. There is plenty of parking nearby and they played great hip-hop/pop music overheard. Overall we liked it and definitely will come back...
