I recently visited Curry Up & Wok This Way and have mixed feelings about my experience. While there were some aspects of the restaurant that I enjoyed there were also some areas that left me disappointed.
Firstly I must say that the ambience of the restaurant is quite pleasant. The interior is well-decorated with comfortable seating and an inviting atmosphere. The soft lighting creates a cozy setting which is perfect for a relaxed dining experience.
Moving on to the service I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. They greeted us with a smile and promptly seated us. The waiter was attentive and checked on us regularly making sure we had everything we needed. Their knowledge of the menu was impressive and they were able to provide recommendations when we were unsure about what to order.
When it comes to the food there were both hits and misses. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes ranging from traditional curries to stir-fried noodles. The chicken tikka masala I ordered was flavorful and had just the right amount of spice. The portion size was generous and the chicken was tender. However the vegetable fried rice was disappointing. It lacked seasoning and the vegetables seemed undercooked which affected the overall taste. I also found the presentation of some dishes to be somewhat lackluster.
Another point worth mentioning is the pricing. While some dishes were reasonably priced others seemed a bit overpriced for the quality and quantity received. It would be great if the restaurant could revisit their pricing strategy to ensure it matches the overall dining experience.
In terms of cleanliness the restaurant was well-maintained. The dining area and restrooms were spotless and tables were promptly cleared after each party left. It was evident that hygiene was a priority which is always appreciated.
Overall Curry Up & Wok This Way provided a mixed experience. The ambiance and service were commendable but the food quality and pricing left something to be desired. Perhaps with some improvements in these areas this could become a go-to spot for delicious Indian and...
Read moreEDIT #2 - Final Review ——— I finally had a chance to try it last week. I ordered the Pad Thai and Panang Curry. To be blunt, Pad Thai overall was a 2/5. I wasn’t very impressed with the flavor, and the portion size was below average. The bean sprouts were terrible. I’m not sure if they were old or what, but usually they have a mildly sweet, nutty flavor and these were sour and tasted completely soiled. Nothing else stood out about the dish. Moving on to the panang curry…it was fantastic, which is saying a lot because I usually hate curry. It doesn’t have an overpowering curry taste like most Indian curry’s. It had an amazing, complex, flavor profile. I was extremely impressed. My girlfriend tried the drunken noodles, and much like the pad Thai, wasn’t very impressed. I really hope they improve their noodle dishes.
EDIT IN RESPONSE TO REPLY --- I'm changing my review to 5 stars until I get another chance to try it. I don't think they deserve a 1 star review considering the circumstances.
ORIGINAL REVIEW ——— I called twice to place a to-go order, and no answer. So I figured they might be busy, waited 10 minutes, called twice again. Nothing. Very disappointing, because I was hoping to try this place tonight and support small business but unfortunately this small business is poorly managed. They obviously need to invest in a phone system and software where they can dock multiple calls while they’re busy so they can serve all potential customers. I’m amazed this business owner hasn’t thought of this already. I wish them luck and I hope to get an opportunity to try it in the future. Maybe they’ll answer their phone next time. Disappointed in their lack of ability to manage this business...
Read moreLive up to its name, Curry Up! —amazing curry and other dishes. The owners are sweet and caring individuals. Being Thai, myself, and quite picky about Thai food, I would eat there again whenever I have someone ready to come with me to Union Hall. I love and impressed of all the spice levels they have. I eat spicy so the highest spice level there was Thai’s Spicy, which was hot, but I wouldn’t made it any other way. I ordered the Panang Curry and impress with depth of flavors and, of course, spices. I know that if you come to the place it will be worth your while (and you might also be returning also) so give this cool place a shot or call to do ToGos whatever works, I’d recommend. I love that the owner are passionate about what they do and hope to introduce authentic Thai food and dishes name found also in Thailand. You’d get both great, fresh food and unique culture. And also no msg for some of you who may be wondering, so CurryUp and give this place a try! Hope...
