Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream — Restaurant in Waco

We tried this place recently. We honestly thought it would have been a better experience, especially for the price. The staff were very unenthusiastic and boring when we thought we were paying for a special event for our littles to enjoy. Very lackluster experience. For a small 1 topping ice cream, a small 2 topping ice cream and a large Italian ice with no toppings, it somehow costed us $36. The smalls very extremely small. The ladies behind the counter looked depressed and had their phones out several times. They provided no guidance or suggestions even though we said we were trying this place for the first time. In fact, they never reponded or communicated in any way at all except to tell us the total price at the end. We were all smiling after a great day out but after going here we felt wiped of joy. Would have been better off getting 3 ice creams out somewhere for $10. Husband and I agreed that it was not worth going back. We are not sure how the place has such great ratings. Very underwhelming. I have never before left a negative review on restaurant or otherwise, but I had to in this case. I asked for a shake and upon trying it, it tasted like it was rotten/spoiled, so I apologized and approached the employees and kindly asked for it to be replaced with ice cream instead. They said they were still going to charge me for a replacement, even though I had taken only a tiny sip (along with a sip from my GF to make sure I wasn’t being crazy). When I told them that the standard is for food to replaced free of charge if it tastes like it’s rotten, one of the employees kept gaslighting me, telling me that he had said he “told me it was going to taste bad” —which he never did. I came almost a hour after opening time and the doors were locked. This is not the first time this has happened as last time I came 2 hours after opening and the employee had not finished setting up and told us to come back. As well as another time when I came before closing and they had closed 40 minutes early. Very unreliable and poor customer service. Update 9/9/25 I decided to give the business another chance because I truly like the ice cream however I got there at 2:15 a hour after the posted 1:15 opening time and the doors were still locked.
