So after checking several of our more regular restaurants for a Saturday evening dinner and finding all of them packed to the gills with lines out the door we decided to give Pat Murnane's a chance Parking lot had a few cars but not overcrowded as we entered the pub area was about a third build we were shown to the dining area there was one party maybe 10 folks who already had their food and one other couple sitting at a small paper Our 4 made up the second group in the dining area and then a second couple joined about 15 minutes late The one waitress who was handling the dining area did not seem to be in a hurry about anything and seem to be extremely overwhelmed This did not prevent her from spending most of the time when she wasn't walking by tables avoiding looking and making eye contact on her phone at the weight stand When she did interact she was polite and pleasant but was definitely not service oriented in the glasses were ignored and there was no serious inquiry as to how the food or the experience was going Speaking of the food everything was delicious and cold and/or slightly overcooked the sauces and flavors were impeccable delicious flavorful but everything had a leftover taste because obviously it was either precooked and not brought up the temperature or it was set on the station to deliver the tables and the waitress just couldn't handle the volume One couple made a very pronounced loud complaint to the manager half-heartedly apologized and maintained a look of boredom and obvious contempt for the woman's complaint he quickly gathered their food up obviously microwaved it and brought it back within 30 seconds quickest thing that happened all night The pub area in the meantime had totally filled up and it did not look like much food was going that direction so whatever the problem is is either in the kitchen or the before mentioned disinterested overworked wait stuff Definitely would recommend this place if you're going into the bar services speedy quick and obviously the emphasis family dining I'd...
Read moreI've been trying to contact the owner via email without success. Found a message option on Facebook and left a message there to please contact me. Gave my name and phone number before I listed a review. I've not heard anything so here it goes... I met my best friend there on Tuesday around 3:30 pm after she got off from work to catch up and share a beer or two. Had a lovely bartender, Jeanne, I believe was the name was on the receipt. Then around 5:30 my husband came to join us and there was a change of bartender and the only name I saw was PM Bar on my receipt. She came up standing next to me. Looked over at my husband asked him if he wanted another beer, turned and walked away. When she came back, I said hey I would like another beer and she said snarkily, does anybody want anything I was just here. I said you were standing right next to me and didn't even acknowledge me so I couldn't ask you for a beer. All she snapped back with was, Well I was standing right here and I said well I was sitting here. She stormed off and I said well. That's okay. I'll talk to the manager and she said she was the manager. I don't know what happened or there's something else going on in her life but she was very rude! When she walked back with my beer I said, I'm sorry, did we get off on the wrong foot then she tried to play it off. The three of us decided we would never come back there because of her rude disrespectful unapproachable attitude! Anyway, I thought you should know! I kept the copy of the receipt because I was going to give you her name but it only said PM Bar, and it was at 6:35 on Tuesday August 5th, if you care to talk to that manager 😞 I like to give good reviews but couldn't do...
Read moreMy wife likes a salad or something there and dragged me out after I decided not to return years ago. The reason was I find their food bland and tavern-like. In no way shape or form could this be considered Irish by any stretch of the imagination. I've been to Ireland and frequented many pubs that are far more authentic. For starters the atmosphere in is that of a low budget Chili's type restaurant. Minimal decor. No ambiance. Certainly nothing that says "I'm in an Irish pub."
2nd, and most importantly, the food isn't very good. Guinness is the only Irish beer on draft, and if I remember the only Irish beer there period. Weak sauce. American bar food dominates the menu: cheese fries, wings, tostada salad, crab cakes, steak, etc.
I ordered the bangers and mash along with a cup of Irish stew. It's usually pretty easy to tell proper Irish bangers (sausages) from inferior American efforts you find at grocery stores. The former will usually have the texture of a hot dog inside....not resemble a bratwurst which is what I had. The mashed potatoes and green beans that came with it tasted like a microwave meal. At least the service was good. (Great job Chloe)
The stew was OK and probably the only thing I would recommend. I would dump the Irish portion and focus on more bar food if I'm these guys. If you want an Irish experience check out Hibernian Pub just a few miles away on Falls of Neuse Rd. Authentic food...
