I visited yesterday and really have to say the owner needs a revamp on professional standards and customer service his employees display as well as possible price adjustments if he wants to move forward with a successful business where people are proud to invest and contribute their money and time in. Upon walking in I wasn’t greeted the cashier Connie was on Facebook and talking to her two other co workers about gossip and other things about other people. When I decided what to order ( two hot dogs and a small fry with a medium lemonade ) this was about 14.85 I really was blown away by this but it makes sense later. The fries were old and already made and as were the hotdogs they immediately put it together and I had to ask if it was mine because they were too busy talking to give it to me. Connie made my drink and set it on the counter down the line never advising me or acknowledging that it was mine. I assumed and took it the 3 employees went right back to talking about whatever gossip seemed enticing. On the other side the manager was sitting down on his phone as well complaining about severe back pain while the 4th employee was cleaning. So we have 5 employees on the clock 1 working. Which tells me why I’m paying almost 15 dollars for 2 hotdogs. I’m paying for him to keep workers who are not working on the payroll. As I watched all employees kept touching their phones and the food with no hand washing in between. Connie talking junk about people the entire time rolling her eyes and making negative and disparaging comments about people they may know outside of work. While I was there only one man came in they briefly took an order and apparently he wasn’t given his drink Connie tossed it on the counter didn’t say a word. For 15.00 for a single person’s lunch I would expect at least MINIMAL customer service as well as politeness and I would expect fresh fries. I don’t want to hear disparaging comments and gossip for 30 minutes or see the owner about to fall out due to not being able to physically work. Maybe cut the staff In half especially since they are not working at all and possibly create more competitive prices as well as better health care for the owner. This is just my opinion of course I know this business has been here for a long time but as a consumer this was not a good look or experience and we won’t be back. Connie you need a much better attitude and a much kinder demeanor if you’re working with people. If you guys want to pour your finances into a business who has high moral hard work and value this...

Decent joint but overpriced and with customer service that really lacks. I come here every now and then when I need a hot dog fix. The normal hot dogs are the pink hot dogs. I grew up on them and find them good. However, you'll find the staff generally non attentive. Sometimes the wait can be long as the lines form, and I've been to the counter on a couple of occasions where I'm just standing there, the people behind the counter are just talking amongst themselves and when they are ready to receive you, they just look at you with pen in hand. No courtesies. For this reason, I almost never tip. A smile plus a 'How can I help you' as opposed to a blank stare goes a long ways. On the cost... If I get 3 hotdogs, plus fries, plus a lemonade, the cost is around $18. Conversely, if I go to Texas Road House, I get an 11 once sirloin, plus fries, plus a potato for about the same price (with a lot less attitude). That should make it apparent the value this place has. This place must be killing it in the profit department. In the end, this is a hotdog joint that has been around for a long time. Much like my beloved Second Street lunch that I grew up on, this is going to mainly attract the long time loyals. New folks will likely get turned off and wonder what the fuss...

Nice try, Blake Peebles. I regret to inform everyone here that was looking for a fair, unbiased view of local dining establishments, but you have been had by one of this towns local google review grifters. I was in fact in the restaurant at the very same time as Blake Peebles, I thought this swine was driven out of this town years ago, but I could smell his foul intentions from a mile away. The experience in this restaurant was in fact a 0/10. I had "The big one" I waited 35 minutes for a burger and fries that was a few tiers below something I would get at Hardees. The level of stress from behind the counter was so high it was spilling over and effecting my home life. There was constant arguing between staff members, that which soured my experience to a point no amount of glizzy goodness could overcome. I am all for supporting your local small business, but when Sheetz is selling glizzies 2 for $1 I should not be paying these high high prices. Blake Peebles, try as you may to bring total chaos and anarchy to objective local food reviewing, just know I will always be here. in the shadows. watching. waiting. ...

I love any restaurant with giant anthropomorphic hot dogs at the door and pinball in the back. Luckily, Shorty’s meets its classic theming with solid food. Read the yellowed peg board sign and discover all the possibilities: classic chili cheese hot dogs, pimento hot dogs, meatloaf burgers, fries, and so much more. There’s no wrong way to indulge in the menu, everything my group tried was excellent. The highlight, of course, is the hot dog. Vibrant red casing and the perfect chew make for a delicious hot dog, and the bun and toppings add to it all. The meat loaf sandwich was also excellent, like a burger but with a meat loaf patty instead of normal burger meat. More savory but the same presence on the bun. You can add the standard toppings to their hot dogs, plus extras like pimento cheese if you’re feeling zany. They have pool tables, some pinball machines, and arcade sticker machines in the back. It’s a delicious establishment that doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it really is: a hot dog temple.

A no-fuss hotdog shop in downtown Wake Forest. Vibes are quaint and nostalgic. Hotdog was delicious. I got mine the house way which I believe was a hotdog with mustard and chili. I would get it just like this next time! This place is a million times better than the famous Roast Grill in Raleigh! Lots of seating options throughout and some games in the back room to enjoy. Prices are decent in this economy for any business looking to stay afloat. They’re known for their hotdogs but we also tried their chicken salad sandwich, which was amazing! Looking forward to trying other menu items as there was way more on the menu board than we anticipated.

Terrible first time experience. Order was incorrect. I called back to ask for a small side of chilli that was missing from my hotdogs. They told me they were closed and that the chilli was no additional charge. Though they just had closed at 7p and I had just left they were not willing to resolve their mistake. Not only that I ordered tenders and fries. I paid for an extra side of BBQ sauce. The sauce wasn’t even filled. Definitely not enough for my tenders. The honey mustard does not taste like honey mustard also. I was excited to try shortys for the first time but feeling very disappointed in the service and dissatisfied with the food.
