To start off, I believe that I have been here before, but maybe not. This was before I started writing yelp reviews though, and i'm here now! Andreas is a local staple in Waldwick, NJ, that serves Italian Fare food. Went here on Thursday July 17th 2025 with my parents and my cousin, and his friend. We made a reservation in case it was busy there, and good thing, because around 7 or so it was starting to get busy! Highly recommend one does make a reservation. Was greeted by a host, who sat us at a table. Duly note, I did feel a little chilly, but always bring my sweater for that reason. The table was set with a wine glass, and a water glass, and silverware. perfect for an eventful dining experience. Our server came over right away and introduced himself. Only con is I really couldn't understand him that well, especially when he stated the specials. Anyways, we started with 5 waters, and some also ordered titos with sprite. My cousin also brought some wine with him- not sure if this place is BYOB (bring your own booze). We started off with Fried Calamari, Tomato and Mozzarella, and Zuccinhi Fritti. Food came out in a timely manner- we also took a while to look over the menu. I enjoyed the Zuccini and fried calamari! Finally we decided what we wanted-- I ordered the Zuppa De pesci, which was pasta with mussels, salmon, calamari, shrimp, and scallops. Some of the other dishes my party got was the scallop scampi, and some veal dish. I very much enjoyed my seafood entree- oh and the salad came with it too! I ate most of my meal, but then also took some leftovers home with me. Oh, and the server didn't quite communicate with me that they box the leftovers, but once i got the message, it was all good. Paid via a gift card, then the balance with a credit card, and left a cash tip. Highly recommend stopping at Andreas in Waldwick! If we are ever in the area again, would...
Read moreHidden gem! In the world of fast food and chain Italian restaurants the traditional "authentic" Italian restaurant has become lost. Andrea's is reminiscent of what great Italian food in Northern New Jersey has been all about! The warm comfortable ambiance sets the tone for the dining experience. The decor is tastefully done without being overstated. It is also children friendly- there where tables with families with young (well behaved...) children. It's great to see families exposing their young one's to great Italian food. I must point out that the wait staff is impeccable!. They are seasoned veterans who know how to pace your dining experience. They are not looking to push you out the door just to turn tables. We started out our meal with the grilled calamari over arugula. The calamari was grilled to perfection without being tough and elastic! This was followed by our main courses (One of the creative dinner specials) veal braciole paired with home made gnocchi with a smooth tomato sauce and the seafood Zuppa de pesce which was chock full of fresh seafood - the angel hair pasta was al dente (as it should be) and light sauce that complimented it had just enough wine and garlic as not to overpower the seafood. And to be healthy and we also ordered a side of sauteed broccoli rabe ;) . The desert was over the top amazing (Not outsourced!) We ordered the fresh strawberries with zabaglione and this hazelnut ice-cream with whipped almond cream that was off the charts! Keep in mind: They do have a liquor license but they are also a BYO. So, bring your favorite bottle of Italian vino and mangia! A dining experience you...
Read moreExcept for the fact that the resturant is in a strip mall, it's a first class place. So, don't expect the facade of the Waldorf Astoria or Tavern on the Green.
The service was excellent, friendly and efficient nonetheless.
The food consensus from my party was nothing but satisfying and pleasing. A little New York City pricey but the quality was there and that's what mattered. Portions were generous.
I would recommend Andrea's to my high end friends and business associates. Families on moderate incomes may find it too expensive.
The front sign is designed dark rustic wood on wood style in a manner that from the road you really can't see passing by. I am not from Waldwick so I had to look for the place since it's not obvious to an out of towner.
I found my experience quite enjoyable. I would return.
You're allowed (even though they sell it) to bring your own wine, they'll uncork it free. But only wine. Very nice incentive. Keeps the bill manageable for those on a...
