Hoffmans in Spring Lake is usually our stomping ground but it's always usually packed and we decided this time out to try someplace new for our ice cream craving.
We found Sundaes to be a really nice surprise. We were there just after 5pm on a Saturday when you would expect the place to be mobbed, but we easily parked and didn't have to wait more than two minutes on line until someone helped us.
Ice Cream has become increasingly expensive so I can understand the complaints I have read about price increases and smaller portions. It's happening everywhere. I don't know what the portions were like before, but I got a large soft-serve Sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream and peanut butter cups and it was pretty darn big and with that extra topping, around $10. As expensive as it is, it's on par with Hoffmans.
Speaking of Hoffmans, I found the ice cream here to be just as good. There was also much more outdoor seating available -- something Hoffmans is severely lacking.
Was very happy with the service. The girls behind the counter were working their tails off but remained friendly. I think we are going to come back here just because it's less crowded with more outdoor seating.

Read moreI remember when Sundaes first opened. I was a young child living in Manasquan, and I became obsessed with their chunky, rich flavors. My favorites were ooey gooey Oreo, chocolate overload, dark side of the moon, and sticky fingers. Each flavor was so unique and absolutely tantalizing. I also loved their chocolate malts and soft vanilla with rainbow sprinkles or cookie doughs.
I moved to the Midwest for college, and I still live there, but I’ve always missed being close to Sundaes. I’m back in town for a funeral, so I decided to visit Sundaes. Who doesn’t love a sweet treat after a hard day? I’m pleased to say that Sundaes hasn’t changed a bit. The vibe, the decor, the bright lights, and the signature flavors were all so familiar.
Eating the ice cream made me so nostalgic and truly brightened my hard day. Much...
Read moreThe Sundaes store was clean and consistently busy. Several people were sitting outside enjoying their selections. The line was not long at all, but there were customers coming in regularly. The choices were considerable, with both soft and hard ice creams. There were many flavors to choose from also. They offer both cones, cups and beverages. I selected a vanilla ice cream soda with DevilDog Ice cream. The ice cream was delicious. The soda could have used another pump or two of vanilla syrup to sweeten it. My complaint is that the price was not proportionate to the size of the drink. They are too expensive. I will probably go there again because I like Devildog ice cream and they also offer a whole line of cannoli desserts. A Cannoli Sundae, icecream, waffle cones, sauce, yes, I will have to...
