One of the most romantic places to celebrate a special occasion and the food used to be superb.
The place is amazingly decorated for the holidays. Be sure to request a stair seating because there are booths that are perfect for couple seating and intimacy. The upstairs is the bar and holds larger parties and can be loud.
Their holiday menus are not confined to 3 course dishes but highlight the festive of the season with varied plates.
We were here last Nov to celebrate our 12 anniversary of meeting each other. The food was fantastic and we were amazed
The octopus was the best dish Iāve ever had. The carpaccio style was superb that showcases the essence of the octopus.
The menu has changed and I donāt know if the executive chef that was here in Nov has left or wasnāt cooking tonight or the sous chef had a severe off night because a lot of basic mistakes were made. This is why Michelin stars is considered the most reliable and prestigious award given because they evaluate every year to see if consistency is maintained. Sadly not here.
I gave high praises to this place in Nov but presently end of June, Iād rather stay home and cook my own. :/
First off, let me commend the service because it was impeccable. The bartenders were polite and knew how to make great drinks. The Maitre D was outstanding in apprising us of the status of our reserved table and even took our drinks from the bar on a plate. The waitress was kind and attentive. Unfortunately for all this amazing service, the food was adequate.
The special wagyu app was amazingly tender but a one note dish of beef, mushroom and heavily salted roasted potato disk with a strawberry crema. The fried calamari was tender but was unsalted. The blueberry risotto was under cooked served with a non existent honey and pistachio encrusted lamb and the sesame crema was missing
This is basic mistakes that only a novice line cook would make. Note that I didnāt say chef because a chef would always salt a fried food and taste their risotto before serving it.
Either the cook doesnāt know what a risotto should taste like or didnāt taste it at all. Either way , itās an oversight thatās simply inexcusable for a dish that costs $55.
Sadly it was our anniversary for our marriage and Scarborough...
Read moreMy fiancé and I contacted Scarborough Fair back in March of 2021 to plan our rehearsal dinner for this upcoming Saturday, September 25th. We met and spoke with Nicholas, who at the time was the person we booked through and made a cash deposit under the current menu at the time. Never was it discussed prices would rise, or the agreed upon menu would change. My fiancé and I provided a cash deposit and moved forward with our booking.
Fast forward to a week ago, now Scarborough Fair is currently price gauging the menus as we are very close to our event. They increased the price per person exorbitantly with the only explanation āthis is for inflationā as we are preparing our final payment. After I confronted them(because who raises the price on someone without notice a week before their event?), I then received a phone call at approximately 11:06pm followed by a phone call at 11:22pm on September 17th to discuss their unethical business practices. It was completely inappropriate, outrageous and unprofessional. Screenshots for proof are attached. What reputable business owner calls someone at that time??
On the 11:06 pm phone call my fiancĆ© and I were told we would be refunded our deposit. At that point We weāre fine with walking away amicably as I was told there was no apparent contract. Then, at 11:22pm, we received a phone call from the "owner" which I did not answer as it was beyond inappropriate to call someone that late. He left a voicemail stating we will not receive our deposit back as the restaurant was to honor the initial pricing; however, that could not be further from the truth. They still increased the price per person & wanted to make menu substitutions.
My family has strong ties to the community for over 50+ years with family members and extended friends and family that have businesses down the street from this restaurant. I will be sure to make note of these events in the future when someone asks for any recommendations in the area at our places...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe recently dinned here for my birthday. The parking was easy, walking up to the restaurant was beautiful. The hostess was sweet and prompt. We had a reservation. The hostess sprinkled happy birthday confetti on the table as she sat us which was so unique and fun. Our server came over to us and asked for our drink order. She then came back a minute later and said, āYou know Iām going to have to ID you guys rightā.. that wasnāt the issue at all, it was the way she said it as if we were trying to get away with it? I understand we may look young but we are 26 & 27. Thereās no way I looked under 21 for her to treat us like that. Now that was the start of it. She barely interacted with us. We didnāt receive bread, when we noticed all the tables she had around us did, and they sat after us. The appetizer was delicious, bacon wrapped shrimp with mango! Now our entrees took between 30-40 minutes. She came over to us at an empty table and asked if we were waiting to eat or if we ate already⦠we said we were still waiting for our entrees. After we ate more than half our steaks, with two bites left, with no steak knife, no check in to see how we were until two bites left Iāll say again, she comes over and notices. Then proceeds to bring the knives over. The lamb rack and filet mignon we had were very good and luckily soft.. the food was wonderful. We didnāt get dessert because at this point we were almost there for two hours. We each had one drink and one glass of water. She never refilled our waters or asked if we wanted another drink, as we noticed that she did for her other tables. We werenāt even told her name. It would of been nice if she brought out dessert for my birthday, on her, for the way out dinning experience went with her. I recommend this restaurant if your celebrating something or just to dine at, as long as she isnāt your waitress!! Sorry we werenāt even told her name. We just felt so belittled...
