Walled Lake Tavern — Restaurant in Walled Lake

Really wanted to have a nice dinner and beer on the patio with family. We waited to try WLT in the hope that the food and service would be well established. Not so. Upon arriving we told a server inside that we were going to sit on the patio. Some time later the waiter brought menus then drinks. We ordered burgers and were then told they were out of patties, later another waitress served the table next to us burgers. Saw popcorn on a table and asked for some, it didn't come. Ordered sliders and fries and onion rings. Took a while and arrived cold and overcooked. Menus say fries are slender hand cut with skin on, they are none of these things. Obviously frozen, then served cold. Refills on water were not offered. Waiter was obviously new and unsure of himself, untrained. Bathroom had no toilet paper or papertowels, told 2 staff members & they said we'll get to it. We just gave up. This is a great location, I hope the restaurant that replaces WLT is an improvement. Great decor/atmosphere, beautiful ceilings, loved all the humorous signs, can’t wait to try the outdoor seating this summer where we can enjoy even more views of the lake. Super friendly, inviting owners, they all seated people and helped serve while we were there. We sat at the bar, the two different bar tenders, as well as our waitress, all chatted with us intermittently. She also asked if we had any complaints or suggestions regarding our food as she stated the owners wanted to make sure people were enjoying what they ordered and liked the options. Our favorites were the southwest egg rolls and pretzel! Food and drink prices were on par with places we frequently dine. My favorite little, “extra touch” was the POPCORN!!! Hope it gets better in the future because it's a cool location across from the lake and a lovely patio & building design. I would hate to see it go under but it needs more. A better menu and better draft beer choices. They need to step it up to get more folks to come. Here's what it looked like on a Sunday afternoon in June between 6-7pm when 2 restaurants right down the street were overflowing with people. We watched many folks walk right past this place and go across the street like it wasn't even there. We stopped at the other restaurant also and couldn't even get a seat on the patio. We had great service though. Loved sitting on the patio. We had it all to ourselves most of the time. We'll most likely try it out in a couple of months to see if they care to make it more interesting. If not, we probably won't be back for...
