Club 1220 — Restaurant in Walnut Creek

Went to 1220 for the first time in a long time last night which was a Friday around midnight and let me tell you DJ Ellis sure knows how to clear a dance floor!! He played an awful selection of music and his transitions from song to song was rough, people would literally stop dancing because we had to wait for the next song to play and he refused to take any music requests that my party knew would get people back on the dance floor. The floor was really sticky even the dance floor. The security guard was rude and just looked like he was in a bad mood. The host in the front was more into his poker game on his phone then interacting with us when we walked in, he wasn’t very inviting but he didn’t mind taking our money, $8 cover charge was not worth it. While the front door greeter cashiers are always friendly, the bar staff is inconsistently attentive, friendly or quick. I feel that most times I’ve been (6 visits now Fri/Sat), it’s never busy enough to warrant short attitude from the bar. Drinks are just ok and fairly priced. My biggest rub is the DJ isn’t consistent Fri/Sat in reading the audience: it seems to shift from 80’s to 90’s to hip-hop to edm in the same night without a why or storytelling. My instinct is when u see people on the floor, continue to keep them there with similar music, not just a random hard turn. My biggest peeve is their events promoted are NOT consistent with what is actually happening - false advertising - invited all my friend and co-workers to a Latin Night and they were not doing anything - even music - that was Latin...

I've never felt safer and more at home at a bar before. First of all, the dancing and the fruity beverages? Incredible. The atmosphere? Comfy and fun. The music choices change up every night and are always good. The bartenders are so nice and excellent at what they do. If anyone gets too drunk they will walk with you and be a crutch for your drunk friend. The best part for me? Even when I decided to get sober, I can still come back and feel welcome. They have drinks for everyone, and they wont judge you or let people judge you for not wanting to drink alcohol. Its such a home vibe.
