I grew up in the beautiful city of Chicago and I grew up on Dunkin Donuts. They are the best. I have missed eating them every since I've moved to California almost 30 years ago. But I've prayed for the day when they would finally arrive in California and more importantly to an area nearby where I lived. I've been tortured for years by the Dunkin Donuts commercials and then the torture git worst when Krispy Kreme donuts showed up first!! They were and are absolutely horrible!! They're gone now, and thank God because they don't hold a candle to Dunkin Donuts, Which now that they have finally arrived, I am so excited and ecstatic about it that I just don't know what to do with myself. I love this place the people are tremendously, warm, friendly, and welcoming, and the donuts are sinfully addictive. So Before, my prayer was for Dunkin Donuts to please hurry up and get here. And now that they have finally arrived my prayer is that they never, ever, ever , leave!!!!! These are Great folks and Fabulous Donuts, with fantastic service. And this place has made it worth the wait. It is just as I remembered Dunkin Donuts to be. So I want to say to every one at the walnut Creek Dunkin Donuts THANK YOU SO MUCH for making a Chicago favorite something that I can now enjoy in California and for doing it right !!! And by the way their coffee is to die for too! And for the record even in Chicago even if there is more than one register open the line would still be...
Read moreAfter ignoring the place for years while passing by, and reading some reviews, I decided to try them on a Sunday morning at 7. Here are my impressions: The coffee's not bad. It's kind of nice to have a very early morning option (open 6 am on weekends, and 5 am (!) on weekdays), but if you don't want to overload on sugar the pickings are slim. The apple fritter I had was pretty awful, so it went into the bin. The croissant, which I got as a second choice after, was nicely warmed up, but kind of mushy instead of flaky. Maybe I'll try a bagel or English muffin next, as one final attempt of redemption, before I continue ignoring the place again.
My overall impression is: "as expected," cheap ingredients, cheap sugar "glazing" smothering the pastries, not delighted... (While diabetes continues to be an epidemic!)
An appreciated touch was the pay-by-phone system not trying to shame me into adding a tip of some "suggested" 20% or so, as is usual at many other over-the-counter-service places. (There is a tip jar where you can put in a bill or spare change if you...
Read morei bike from pleasanton to this store regularly. nothing but my favorite donut brand from my east-coast habit, which we really don't have any other choices in the east bay. i used to run into some cases with messed up orders, but my focus was on the brand not the store so i kept quiet, just enjoying my coffee & donut. one thing was happening recently in this store really blew my desire to go to this store away. unfortunately, intolerant behavior from the store staff and the owner crushed my faith in this brand. Initially they messed up my order, then they rudely replied to my inquiry about the order. the worst thing is even the owner's response was "don't care". it's ok 4 me to say goodbye 2 this brand. whatever i need to alter my lifetime habit for donuts away from its sugar-rich donuts to something more healthy. thank ur rudeness to push myself away...
