STAY AWAY! As soon as they had our money, they cut us loose!
My wife and I purchased a mattress from Mancini's in Walnut Creek about two months ago. My wife liked it, but it ended up hurting my back. We went back to the store because the "comfort guarantee" allows customers to make a "one time" exchange or return of an unwanted mattress. We very naively let the saleswoman talk us into exchanging our mattress for another one that she said "never comes back" (i.e., is never returned) and is the "best one we sell." If only we had returned our mattress for a refund, then we could have walked down the street to another mattress store and enjoyed a new comfort guarantee. But on reflection, it seems Mancini's will do anything to convince someone returning a mattress to "exchange" it for another, because then Mancini's can force that customer to keep the second mattress, even if he/she hates it. Well, that's what happened. My wife and I both hate the second mattress and feel very naive to have taken the saleswoman's advice (she was just whatever she could to keep our money!). I called to find out what they could do for us. I ended up speaking with Scott Serface, the sales manager, and he was condescending, unsympathetic and aggressive. He raised his voice repeatedly to the point where I had to just hang up the phone. I could not believe what I was hearing. Not only did he not care that we were unhappy, he was downright nasty to me. The only help he offered was to sell me ANOTHER mattress, which would have left me with two mattresses, having entered Mancini's trying to buy only one. I called some time later to ask if we could undo the exchange and take back the first mattress at our cost, so that at least my wife could be happy. I was sure that Mancini's would do us that small favor in order to mitigate a disastrous situation for us. Nope. Scott instructed his sales person to offer to sell us back our first mattress for $1,000! I really do not see how Mancini's would be hurt in undoing the exchange -- i.e., by trading a used mattress for another used mattress. The sales lady said that she knew exactly where our first mattress was--in a bag in a wearhouse-- but that Scott was unwilling to help us.
BEWARE OF THESE PEOPLE! In my opinion, once they have your money they will write you off so fast it will make your head spin. My STRONG advice is that if you do not like your first mattress, RETURN IT FOR A REFUND. Do not exchange it, or you open yourself up to being cut loose in the event that you do not like your second mattress.
My best advice however is to go to a mattress store with more scruples and more interest in their customers'...
Read moreI purchased a Kingsdown vintage sycamore Grove mattress on May 29, 2023. The service itself was great - friendly, knowledgeable and so on. The delivery was good too. I was advised to purchase a bunkie board to support my IKEA bed frame, but since it was out of stock I purchased it from a different store. After a few months I've noticed that the top part of the mattress (where the head and trunk are) is sinking considerably. I'm an average weight and specifically purchased an extra firm mattress because I don't want any dents or body impressions. I flipped it with the feet side up, and after a couple more months - that side started sinking considerably as well. I went in personally to report the issue and was told to send an email. I tried to find out if this was normal, but the salesperson didn't seem interested in helping other than repeating that I should email. I did send an email and had a surveyor come and assess it. He found a 3/4 inch sinking (and this is after 7 months of use only). I did not get a follow up email from anyone. Only after another rather desperate email I was told they would only do something if the dent was 1and1/4 inch, that this is normal somehow and that the sinking may or may not stop in another year or two. I regret my purchase here and advise that you purchase from somewhere that has some sort of trial period or better...
Read moreJohn the store manager opened Synchrony Home account for 7,200 without asking permission to open a line of credit. He was nice. Because he wanted $3,000 down buy down for someone who can't purchase with cash. Make sure to ask him an account is being opened while running an application. I'm perfectly open to correcting the issue but the store manager made it seem like I was getting $7,200 up front without an application and he didn't tell me that I was going to be approved for a certain amount he just applied and told me this is what I was approved for and didn't tell me that he had open an account. At the end of the day transparency is what's important I could care less about the $3,000 up front that the store manager wanted. But at the same time I find a better deal through eBay for $6,000 out the door with the base and the mattress so why would I spend $4,000 more when I know I don't have to. Don't take advantage of people that you think you can take advantage of. I'm almost 40 years old Don't think that you had a customer that was just willing to do what they...
