Chicha San Chen has always been one the popular boba place originated from Taiwan a few years ago and the trend / brand was brought to the States. They are known for their high quality tea.
When it first opened in San Gabriel, I was so happy because 626 finally has a known, high quality tea brand that open here. There are many boba shops in the 626 but their drink is just average. If you have been to Asian, especially Taiwan or hong kong, their milk teas/tea depending on the style you like amazes you. The taste and quality of those boba shops canāt compare. Are they bad though? No of course not but you always want crave for the best one right?
This place is one of the best ones. Good tea quality, hot and perfect sweetness boba and other drink refreshers. There are always super long lines regardless of which store it is. Not going to be a big difference here with the wait as you can expect is 9/10 times when you come. Thats the only negative comment I would say about this place and other store locations.
This particular location is small and long lines are expected. Drinks are great just like other stores. Iām happy that the quality of their drinks didnāt just dip after opening a few locations in US. The reason is usually when a popular brand is brought from other countries and after opening different locations, they tend to drop ( service, quality and taste ), not with them though! They stay consistent!
Keep it up...

For some reason, this place isnāt as popular nor crowded as their other location even though itās only a couple more miles away. The menu is the same across all their stores and theyāre very consistent with the flavors. All of their drinks are super tasty so you can order literally anything and can guarantee that youāll like it. The workers are very nice and accommodating. They always take their time explaining the drinks and make sure that your order is correct before placing it.
Green Tea with Honey: 10/10 - subtle and sweet flavor Osmanthus Oolong Tea with Honey: 10/10 - very light and refreshing Green Tea with Mango: 10/10 - nice mango flavor Creamy Mango Tart: 9/10 - literally tastes like mango cake from the Asian bakeries Peach Green Tea with Mousse: 9/10 - mousse is a nice touch Bubbles (Topping): 10/10 - perfectly cooked, soft and chewy
The only downside about the franchise is that they donāt allow any type of adjustments. You canāt remove anything or substitute any of the toppings which is annoying, but they clearly know what theyāre talking about. Itās located in a pretty crowded plaza, but thereās always people going in and out so it should be fairly easy to find a spot. This location is probably the most spacious so you donāt have to wait outside and there are a couple of tables as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEasily one of my favorite places for good quality tea and milk teas. Been coming since they opened in Rowland after going for years to their San Gabriel location
Parking can be difficult in the plaza, and it can be very busy depending on when you come.
Just a heads up, expect to wait a bit for your drink as they make everything to order. Everything is fresh, high quality teas, and it smells great even while youāre waiting in the store.
Personal favorite is the dong ding tea and dong ding tea with fresh milk. I like the perfect amount of sweetness and light ice and just as it sounds, itās perfect. Not too sweet, and just the right amount to get the tea flavor and not sugary or watered down. Even the ālatteā, itās not overly milky and tea comes through.
Their rotating series are usually pretty good as well. We like the peach series
I do miss the taro series though, hoping it comes back soon as itās usually one of my favorites
For toppings, their boba is good, right amount of chewiness, but only get it if you plan to drink right away. I also like their konjac, I miss their unique sakura konjac.
This is our go to location when we want quality tea and weāll keep coming back! Oh and they just started a rewards program so weāll be taking...
