*** Edit in May 2025 Things have improved recently. Food is still not as fantastic as it used to be. But it has gone back to being one of the better Indian restaurants in Boston. I decided to take a few montsh to see if things will remain consistent before increasing my rating again. *** Edit in Dec 2024 *** Dramatic drop in quality of both food and service. Looks like a new management has taken over. The food tastes mediocre now and the new folks are not as friendly and welcoming as before. One of the best Indian restaurant experiences in the region. Not the boring typical Punjabi fare either. This place makes amazing South Indian Food. But their North Indian fare is also better than most restaurant claiming to be North Indian cuisine. I particularly recommend the Mysore Masala Dosa and the Medu Wada. The place us clean and well organized. And the service is very polite, friendly and efficient. Feel free to ask for recommendations from the host.

I recently tried the Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, and it was a truly horrific experience. The chicken had an unpleasant, old smell, making it hard to even take a bite. It felt like they just boiled some rice and tossed a few chicken legs on top of some biryani masala without any effort to infuse the flavors. The dish lacked the authentic taste and aroma that one expects from Hyderabadi biryani. This was, without a doubt, the worst biryani I’ve ever had in my life. Definitely not recommending it. I again thought of giving a try and ordered the malai kofta and was shocked to see it came with just three pieces swimming in a bland, white gravy. The taste was honestly yuck – nowhere near authentic. It lacked the richness and flavor you expect from a proper malai kofta. For the price I paid, this was a complete rip-off. Definitely not ordering this again

I used to live right next to Bonfire and would frequently pick up a quick dinner or get their excellent lunch specials. I was sad to move away from Waltham and haven’t found a replacement Indian restaurant in my neighborhood yet. Bonfire was a go-to restaurant for me and one of the few Indian restaurants in the area that never missed with their food. I’ve tried most things on their menu at this point and always enjoyed what I got.

As a testament to their high quality in food and service, I recently worked with the restaurant for a catering order for a party. The restaurant was able to accommodate a large order for 40 people in a short time frame. The owner was quick to respond, gave honest feedback about what would be appropriate for the guests (he never tried to upsell me even though he easily could have), gave fair quotes for the order, and was very accommodating when I changed the order quantity last minute.

Even though I live outside the normal delivery range now, the owner was willing to hand deliver all the items for the party. The food was hot, packaged well, and very flavorful. All the guests were impressed with the food and I got lots of compliments on the food choice. The palak paneer in particular has got to be the best palak paneer I’ve had in Massachusetts so far.

I highly recommend this restaurant for any catering or large scale orders. I also think you should stop by and support a local small business for a lunch special or casual dinner out. They have lots of seating inside and I’ve always had good experiences with their staff.

Highly recommend...

Bonfire Indian Grill is a true gem for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine! From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting ambiance sets the tone for a memorable dining experience.

I started my meal with the Onion Pakora—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. For the main course, I tried the Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, and it was an explosion of flavors! The delicate blend of spices and tender chicken made every bite a delight. The Shahi Korma and Malai Kofta were rich, creamy, and cooked to perfection, with sauces that are nothing short of magical.

The restaurant also stands out for its variety, offering everything from kababs to South Indian curries. Each dish showcases a deep respect for traditional recipes, while the quality and presentation are impeccable.

What truly elevates the experience is the attention to detail—authentic flavors, generous portions, and prompt, friendly service. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, Bonfire Indian Grill never disappoints.

Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious, heartwarming Indian food! This place has easily earned a spot as one of...
